It pains me to have to give this review because my first impression of John's Home Appliance Center was initially very positive-allow me to explain. My dryer had been serviced earlier in 2024 by another service contractor and had been working for about 5 months until I started having issues with the unit's heating element not working. I wanted to use my original contractor but since it was the the last week of December he was out of town and I was desperate. I called John's Appliance and honestly the woman who took my call gave me excellent customer service..she was empathetic and she actually knew the model of the dryer I had and made sure that I would get a service call as soon as possible in the new year. And her service person did come out as we had discussed..even if he was a bit late. He was cordial and at the time I thought he had fixed the issue; he said that I needed to have a new heating element installed. When he installed it he said that it would work but that it because it was on older model the heating wouldn't be as strong..I found that to be a little odd but I was grateful that it was working so I gladly wrote my check for $270 and resumed my life. Well.. the dryer once again conked out less than 3 weeks later and I did call John's back again..since I was still under repair warranty (30 days) the same young man came back out and re-tested the dryer unit and then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't find anything wrong with the dryer but that I may need to get an electrician because he thought there was something wrong with my outlet output. Umm..what? At this point I called my original service guy who was back from holiday and asked if he could come and look at the dryer. When I called John's Home Appliance Center to let them know that I was going to use another service repair contractor and asked if they could please provide me with the parts they replaced so that I could let my service repair guy know what they did the same woman who had been so wonderful with me put me on hold AND THEN HUNG UP ON ME. They had my contact information; they knew what I was looking for and they never called me back. To make matters worse my service guy figured out why my dryer wasn't working..the heating element that was replaced was replaced INCORRECTLY which was why there wasn't the appropriate heat transfer..which meant that I had to replace the whole heating element AGAIN..but this time I had Dennis from Hawkins Service Repair do it and do it correctly..with the right parts..instead of a sub par repair job from John's. I expected so much better from this business..and it's just really disappointing to experience un-professionalism like this. If you want repair done right with experience then please do yourself a favor and call Hawkins Repair in PA-ask for Dennis..the man is knowledgeable, no-nonsense and will get...
Read moreI called Johns because my dish washer was not working well (but it was still working) They sent out a tech who after spending 15 minutes tinkering with thing then recommend I purchase a cleaning product and run a cycle, his 15 minutes of tinkering cost me nearly $200.
I don't use my dish washer often so when I had a chance to actually run the cycle it turned out his tinkering (or the product he recommended) some how stopped my dish washer from draining all together.
When I called back because of this issue, they told me they would have to charge me for another visit to come out and and see what was wrong. I was not happy about this but took it on the chin because in all fairness I shouldn't have waited over a month to make sure is recommendation actually fixed the problem.
So i went and scheduled another $200 visit and had to take a day off of work to do so. I asked to be slotted for first thing in the morning in hopes I could salvage the day after the tech was done. Around 1 PM I called and asked where the tech was. I was informed they tried to reach me and since no one picked up they canceled my service. (i had no missed calls). They then said they would send someone later that after noon. At 5pm i called back and was informed that no one would be coming that day.
I was understanding and figured I would give them a chance to make things right and asked if they could provide a small discount or some type of special consideration since I not only paid them for a service they did not perform properly but then lost a day of work waiting for a tech that never came.
The response was that it was my fault for not answer the call they never made.
This is not how your do business. Do not use this company...

We had a brand new ice maker installed by John's 2 years ago. It stopped working recently. We called John's and a repairman came. He opened the freezer, took one look and said "before I even touch anything I can just look in here and see that this was installed improperly. This is the mess. Whoever did this didn't do a very good job." I presented him with my receipt from two years ago and he was shocked to discover that he was the person who installed it. He apologized over and over and over before finally delivering the bad news that I would need a whole new icemaker again. He explained that because it had been improperly installed, it had not been functioning correctly all this time and could not be repaired. He then went on to tell me "the good news is - it's cheaper now than when you bought the exact same thing two years ago. " He wasn't sure if he had repaired the icemaker or not but nevertheless I was charged $89.95 because he tried.
The following day a representative from their company called to make sure she had the proper email address so they could email me information about purchasing a refrigerator. When I told her of my experience she went on to explain all the different ways that this wasn't their fault. They didn't manufacture the icemaker and I should've called a year ago when dripping first occurred - not that the outcome would've been any different. I would still have an icemaker not working properly because it was not installed properly, and both the product and service warranty had run out.
They never even offered to make this right!
Terrible repair service! Terrible customer...
