Planet Fitness — Local services in Clemmons

Location is large and has more cardio equipment than the other locations in town. Same amount of weight machines in the main room as other locations they are just spread out more. The 30 minute exercise room is also larger than other locations.

However, this location comes off as quantity over quality. I use the arc trainers as my go to cardio and was used to the cybex machines at other locations in town. At this location they saved some money by getting the cheaper life fitness versions (far less display options). I also had to try 3 machines before I found one with a fully working display. One just blinked L0 instead of LF and never did anything else, the next machine only had the middle section with the time counter working so you couldn't change elevation or resistance. With all the delays I would have thought they would have tested all their machines before opening the doors.

Finally at other locations when I signed in I usually got both a programmed welcome over the speakers and a smiling staff member welcoming me and wishing me a good day. Here the staff is usually talking to themselves behind the counter unless you need a tour.

I made the switch from another location to this location because it is closer, but I think I'll try to figure out how to make the extra 15-20 minute commute work in order to go to one of the other...

I bought membership for me and by boy today at the place. I went back home and when I arrived again, I was told I must have my social security card, birth certificate and ID every time I arrived lol this is the most racist place I have been to in a while!!! Where now a days do you carry your social security card, birth certificate and ID…….. I can see ID, but social security and birth certificate….. if you’re a color person don’t go here. Racism has no place in this time and generation. Pass if you are not white. They need to hire better people, all people of color should be treated the same. My daughter high school friends that are white says they just walk in with no problem. I mean she posted this up and I mean many people on her social media says it’s wrong on all levels. Who does this in 2023???? Those white people and their family and friends don’t need their ID, social security cards or birth certificates….. I don’t understand how it’s 2023 and a place like this hires people like that. I will be canceling...

The manager Chris is a bully and has in many Occassions harassed my 7 months pregnant wife. He has little understanding of the rules of the gym and has tried to enforce rules of his own, targeting and intimidating her. My wife follows a routine when working out which is a military training (a mix of stretch, yoga and light weights) and uses 2 sets of dumbbells at a time. She does not use anything else in the gym (none of the equipments). She keeps it to herself and dont interact much. She is quiet and polite. Chris in several instances now have stopped her in front of other members and told her she cannot use more than one dumbbell, whereas the rule clearly states that she needs to stack them when she is done (which she promptly does). His interpretation is that she needs to stack them in between every set, which is unpractical and not applied to any other member. Chris is a bully and should not be a manager of Planet Fitness.
