On Friday evening, February 21st, our family of 10 arrived at 5:30 PM for a reservation to celebrate my son’s big achievement. Unfortunately, what should have been a special evening quickly turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience due to severe understaffing and poor management.
As our group arrived in shifts until 5:45, our waitress had to take our beverage orders in stages. However, by 6:30, some members of our party still hadn’t received a simple glass of water, prompting my son to go to the food counter to request one. The dining room was packed, with only two waitresses handling at least 50–60 guests. To make matters worse, there was no bartender, even though several people at our table had ordered alcoholic drinks.
By 6:45, we were still waiting on our drinks. Our waitress, clearly overwhelmed and doing her best, brought my margarita first—a $16 drink that was poorly mixed and missing salt. When I took it back to the bar, she was on the phone with the manager, who was essentially telling her to “deal with it” rather than providing her with additional support. She looked on the verge of tears.
Ten minutes later, she returned to inform us that the ingredients for the flights we ordered weren’t available and asked if we would accept a plain margarita instead. We agreed. To help her, we passed around a piece of paper at our table to write down our food orders in hopes of expediting the process. Finally, at 7:00 PM, she returned with our drinks and submitted our food order.
During this entire hour and a half, we had to serve ourselves chips and salsa because there was no staff available to do so. Meanwhile, my daughter-in-law, who had arrived at 5:30, had to leave by 7:15 to put our two-year-old grandson to bed—without ever being served her meal. Her son’s plate, which we had ordered first, thankfully arrived at 5:40, but he had long since finished eating by the time she left.
At 7:30, a staff member arrived with only four of our nine meals, set them beside us on a tray, and walked away without a word. We weren’t even sure if they were ours. Ten minutes later, our waitress returned and distributed them. Meanwhile, my son’s 85-year-old grandmother-in-law still hadn’t received her food. It finally arrived at 7:50.
As for my meal, my California burrito was mediocre at best—barely any cheese, and a minuscule dollop of sour cream that looked like it had been placed with a dropper. Throughout our entire stay, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, not a single drink was refilled until we were about to leave. My daughter-in-law’s meal was packed up cold for her to eat when my son finally got home around 8:45.
Adding to our frustration, we watched as every other table turned over at least twice while we sat waiting. I want to be clear—I do not blame our waitress. She was working hard under impossible conditions. This failure falls squarely on the management for not staffing their restaurant properly on a busy...
Read moreHow did we wait so long to come here?! We tried it out finally for brunch for the first time Sunday -surprise, it was the most delicious, flavorful brunch I’ve ever had and the portions are huge. I’ve never had Chilaquiles Divorciados, but after trying that I can never eat regular chilaquiles again, it was the best thing I’ve had in a long time and the steak was cooked perfectly. You get two kinds of salsas in it, verde and roja. It was a spicy and super flavorful- oh and their refried beans are also insanely good here. We also got a Breakfast Molcajete and it was like a breakfast skillet, but 10x better. It had a creamy green sauce on it that was to die for. The fried cheese or cheese stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeños I’ve never had before but wowww, so good! I didn’t get pics of the other food because we were too busy gobbling it up lol We had Hailey as our server, she was super sweet and on top of it! The drinks we had were top notch, I had the best spicy Bloody Mary of my life and if you’re someone who likes Bloody Mary’s then definitely try theirs, you won’t be disappointed. They said they make the mix from scratch and you can really tell. We also got a Mimosa Flight Tree to share also, it was sooo good and pretty too! We did sub the Pink Lemonade one for just plain champagne because one of our family members is diabetic. A lot of people had the flight trees so we had to get one obviouslyyy lol The restaurant is large and has awesome vibes, with a lot of greenery, plus they play great music and it’s not so loud you can’t talk to each other. We’ll be regulars from here on out, just so sad we didn’t try them sooner! It’s def our new brunch spot but now we have to go for dinner too. I think we are also going to book their party room for an engagement party soon- we will update if we’re able to. I’m just so happy we have something different in Clemmons especially for brunch. We’ll be going again this Sunday!! I just wish they did it...
Read moreI truly wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from the start. When the chips were brought to the table, they were cold. I politely asked for warmer chips and was told they “just come out of a bin” and that there was nothing they could do — which was surprising and off-putting. My husband and I love authentic Mexican food and dine at Mexican restaurants regularly, and we’ve never encountered cold chips served this way.
The salsa tasted semi-homemade and not particularly fresh, so we ordered cheese dip instead. It came lukewarm, with corn and cotija cheese , not hot.
I ordered three street tacos (two steak, one chicken) with rice and black beans. Sadly, everything was served barely warm. The steak and chicken were both dry and tough. I expressed my dissatisfaction to our waitress, who brought the manager. He kindly offered to remake everything hot, but by that point, I had already lost my appetite and wasn’t interested in a do-over.
What bothered me even more was when another staff member walked past our table, clearly trying to see how much food I had eaten. I want to be clear: I never asked for a discount. I only wanted them to understand the quality of the food was unacceptable. They did discount my meal, which I appreciated, but it wasn’t my intention to get a reduced bill — just to be heard.
My husband also wasn’t satisfied with his meal but chose not to complain. The others at our table (my daughter and god-sister) were fine with their food. Ironically, my god-sister lives across the street and had never noticed this place before — and now we know why.
On a positive note, the drinks were tasty. That was the highlight...
