I travel for a living and get frequent massages, usually about once a week. And whenever I have time in an airport, I get massages at the airport massage stores . I typically never do negative reviews, but today I felt the need to report my bad experience. I have never been treated so rudely in my entire life as I was today. I'm a very positive person. I went in as my happy chipper person, and by the time I left I was more stressed than when I went in for a 20-minute chair massage. I was greeted by older black gentleman named Mike. We kind of laughed and joked a little bit about everything hurting, so I wanted hard pressure. As I sat down in the chair, he immediately took my arms and hung them straight down which was very uncomfortable. I thought maybe he was just doing it for a couple minutes, but as the massage went on, I was feeling very uncomfortable and I just raised my arms back onto the pad in front of me. He immediately scolded me for that by rudely and sternly saying "stop trying to micromanage me and let me do my job". Then he dropped both arms back down like he was angry! I responded with "I was just feeling very uncomfortable". And he continued to berate me and said "we can do it your way if you want, I don't care, I'm just trying to do my job to give you hard pressure, you need to keep your arms down, but if you want to put them up go ahead and you just won't get a hard massage". I then took a deep breath and calmly responded with "I don't appreciate being so rudely spoken to, especially when all I was doing was telling you I was uncomfortable." What the heck! I've never been treated so disrespectful in my life. And I get a lot of massages. I'm paying $52 for a 20 min massage, so I have every right to be relaxed and comfortable. Not being rudely talked too. He could have of merely responded in a different way. At that point, I just wanted to get up and walk out, but I knew with that kind of narcissistic personality, that would just cause more problems. So I just sat through it. I left more stressed than when I walked in. And as I went to pay, I tried to put my xpress spa number in, and he said he couldn't do it that way, he had to do it by my name, and of course my name wasn't showing up in the system (even though I get massages there frequently and use my number.) Here then proceeded to tell me to go to this website to put it in and he'd print me a receipt out so I can get my points. When my credit card asked if I wanted it to be emailed to me, I replied yes. But I also wanted to print a receipt. He then scolded me again saying "isn't that kind of redundant since you're getting a printed receipt? I can print one but just more work for me". I just merely said "don't worry about it" and I walked out. I did tip 20% ,Which was way too much. I wish I would have tipped nothing! But i have integrity. Once again I've never been treated so disrespectfully and rudely getting a massage in my life. I'll definitely be going to the website he gave me and reporting this to...
Read moreThe very worst experience. I am a repeat customer and have always looked forward to, and even planned ,layovers in Atlanta so I could get a massage at Express. Yes, it costs a little more but I have always left feeling that my expectations were exceeded. In the past they have given me some of the best, most relaxing, and theraputic massages during what could have been very stressful or uncomfortable travel situations. I have recommended their services and therapists , especially Maurice, to family and friends who travel through Atlanta. Yesterday, however, was just awful. I arrived at the Terminal A location, haggard and sore after a very long day of flight cancellations and delays, looking forward to relief from Express. With limited time I asked the manager who greeted me, for a 30 minute table massage. I was taken to a room with very little introduction to the therapist, Kimberly. She left the room, I disrobed and got under the covers, as usual. She returned, aghast , saying this was a “clothing on”service. I told her this is what I had always gotten , should I have asked for something else? She looked at me with distain, and said they no longer offered full body massages without clothing. I said I had no idea, I wasn’t informed of that, and I would re-dress quickly so I could still get my time in. Kimberly re-entered the room but left the door wide open. I asked her to shut it but was curtly told it would stay open as per new rules. I really wanted some relief for my aching back, so I went along with it but I should have left right then. I was so uncomfortable with the door open into the middle of the spa, with very loud patrons and employees discussing personal matters (including MY circumstances!)laughing and yelling back and forth, I could not relax at all. Kimberly acted very awkward and impersonal . She applied very little pressure and ignored my request to focus on my lower back and hips. I finally just asked her to stop. I complained to the manager, something I have never ever done, and was lamely told the owners had recently changed the rules for clothing only and NO PRIVACY, massages. I suggested that he should have informed me of that when he first signed me in, he offered no excuse or apology for this or anything else. I was very upset from the conversation I had overheard outside my room and the lack of professionalism he and his staff showed. I should have left it at that and not paid anything for the lousy service , but I did give him $20 before leaving in tears. I will never again step foot in or recommend...
Read moreThis was the best manicure and massage I've ever gotten. Wish this place was in Miami so I could be here every other week.
Kayla (sorry if I'm misremembering her name—she had a beautiful neon pink bob) is a phenomenal nail tech. She went above and beyond to give me everything I asked for and even went out of her way to match a special pedi that I had done at another salon!
Kayla was patient with any questions I had, respected my wishes to leave my cuticles alone, and was blazing fast. I usually prefer being on my phone when getting my nails done, but Kayla kept the convo so light and fun that I felt annoyed when I heard texts come in!
I'm so sad that 1) I can only go to my favorite nail tech ever if I fly out of ATL and 2) the website doesn't let me make an appointment with Kayla (or anyone else) for next week when I know I'll be passing through ATL next.
When I was done, I expressed some interest in a massage. Kayla very gently (in a no-pressure non-upselling way) let me know that a massage with Nathan was worth the money.
I started with a 15-minute neck and shoulder massage to see if he was good as she said. I ended up asking for more time in the chair not once but TWICE for a 30-minute massage. I would have asked to keep it going if it weren't for my flight.
Nathan was like a homing missile for obliterating my knots and took to me specifying pain points perfectly. My shoulders are always tight from work, but I now feel renewed. Nathan convinced me that I need regular massage therapy and that I just have to shop around for the right masseuse for me.
Prices for nails were reasonable, too. Gel was only $10 extra! The massage was a bit on the pricey side but alright for an airport. Comparable to a fancy place in a metro area.
If you're looking for a good way to kill time, this is the spot. I'll be sure to swing by here the next...
