My parents took in a complicated piece of needlework I stitched here for framing. Since I used to work in a frame shop, I had already stretched/mounted the cross stitch ahead of time for them so it would be ready for framing. This piece is one of 4, & the 2nd one completed (they’re all the same size). So all of the frames need to match. My mom purchased all of the frames, alone, several years ago. So she brought the frame pieces along (already measured & cut) with the art to be framed. All it needed was a mat, a fillet liner & glass, plus labor. At most they should’ve been charged $200 for this. Instead, the owner price gouged them because he was unhappy about working with “someone else’s frame.” He charged them over $300. When I asked him about it at time of pick up, he immediately got mad at me & defensive, blaming his $4k rent, that he’d been in business 30yrs w/o a single complaint, etc. I told him I simply wanted a cost break down of why it was $300+ & how he came by that #. He refused. The ppwk I was handed only had a single price. When I asked him to give me individual prices for the glass, mat, etc. he said he couldn’t, that he didn’t know the prices, they were in his computer. Very rude man, very bad business practices. He finally refunded $30, but only once I continued to press him about the price discrepancies. He then blamed a co-worker for the so-called error. I feel sorry for whomever works for this guy. The work on the frame job was decent, but definitely not worth the price or hassle....
Read moreWe went in to get an estimate for a piece of artwork with a very custom size. I have 6 pieces, and wanted to start with one at first. We came inside the store, and the owner acted as if we were bothering him by coming inside just to look. When we told him what we were wanting, saying we wanted to look at frames that would work with a blue and silver piece of art. His response was “well I have 2000.” Of course he does. You can see the wall when you walk in. That’s not what we were asking.
He has a wall of frames, which in and of itself is great, but 2000 frames are overwhelming and his lack of interest in our needs was disappointing.
When I picked a frame out to get an estimate with glass, his response was “over $350. And that’s without anything else like matting.” He said it was hard to give us a good estimate without the piece there. Even though I had exact measurements.
He didn’t go into matting with us and didn’t give us any other estimate, other than saying to us “I’m not the cheapest, I’ll tell you that.” His tone made it apparent that we were done with this consultation.
He acted as if we couldn’t afford him, and wouldn’t give us a true estimate for a very special piece to us. We were prepared to spend $500 on framing this piece, but because of how we were treated we will be going...
Read moreIf I could give Art Impressions more than 5 stars, I would. I brought in a dried sentimental rose that had been damaged over the years - it was incredibly fragile and in pieces. I left the flower in David's possession and gave him free reign to do whatever he could - and what he did was magic. David truly is a master of his craft - he pieced the precious flower back together, mounted it with no visible strings, and placed it in a gorgeous shadow box. It is absolutely stunning and continues to take my breath away. David was able to bring life back into it this priceless item and preserve it for years to come. David was such a pleasure to work with - friendly, talented, and efficient. I would highly recommend Art Impressions to anyone - and will definitely be bringing any future work...
