Found a hair in 2 different entrees during our lunch there!
Let me first start by stating that we have been to Kanta several times and have never previously had any issues. The food is always fresh and authentic with good service.
However, my group of 5 went there today and had a much different experience. We ordered apps and drinks and all was well. However, when our entrees came out my wife took 2 bites of her cashew chicken enteee and then found a black hair in it. Obviously this was not great; however, we understand that things happen. Then, while waiting for the waitress to come back and inform her, my step son found a hair in his sweet and sour chicken as well! So at this point we were all pretty disgusted.
When the waitress came back I calmly informed her of the situation and she apologized. She took the 2 dishes and asked if we wanted replacements. We politely declined. Another waiter came over and asked what happened. He apologized and asked if we wanted some drinks. My stepson said sure he would have a lemonade. This is how I would expect something like this to be handled.
Also at this point we were obviously expecting those 2 entrees to be removed from the bill. Well boy did we have a surprise coming.
The cook came out, which is also apparently the “decision-maker” and sternly asked what the problem was. Which, not coincidentally she had black hair and was wearing a hairnet that only covered about the back 1/3 of her hair. We explained the situation again to her as well that a black hair was found in 2 different dishes.
She immediately seemed to express doubt that there could have been a hair in both entrees and honestly came across like she was accusing us of lying. She also said she would only comp one of them. I explained that I was confused why we would have to pay for any entree that had a hair in it. She said again that she would only comp one meal….period.
I explained that we were frequent patrons, had ordered 5 meals and 3 appetizers and that we were happy to pay for everything else. However, it is unacceptable to make us pay for either of the 2 entrees that had hair in them and were not even eaten.
She would not budge and said that is all she is doing. So I notified her that hearing that is very disappointing because in the past we have always enjoyed our experiences. She literally acted like she couldn’t care less and walked away.
So to summarize, just want to provide a heads the cook does not wear a hair net correctly, it is not out of the question to find a hair in your food, and there is a good chance you will still be required...
Read moreAmbiance was what you would expect for a shopping strip Ramen restaurant. It was smaller and clean. And the bathroom was clean as well.
Service was a little on the slow side. It was their lunch time and the staff was all eating at the same time. So once our appetizers were delivered I had to get up and ask for forks.
We started with edamame. It was very normal. It was not seasoned at all. Just steamed.
Then we had the Gyoza, Marinated grounded pork and chicken wrapped with gyoza wrapper and fried with dipping sweet soy sauce.
They were soft fried. Very tasty. They were filled with a tender mixture of pork and chicken. And the dipping sauce complemented the dumplings well.
My daughter was along for todays lunch. She ordered the BBQ Pork Wonton Ramen Marinated grounded chicken and shrimp wrapped with wonton wrapper,BBQ pork, bean sprout, bok choy, scallions, fried garlic and cilantro in tonkotsu broth. It was D-lish. The dumplings were a nice size, soft and perfect addition to the flavorful broth. The Boc Choy and sprouts added the perfect fresh crunch. The pork was thin sliced, abundant and very tender. The hint of garlic was perfect.
Next, we had the Chicken Ramen Chicken, based broth with chicken , soft-boiled egg, bean sprout, bokchoy, scallions, fried garlic, sesame seeds and cilantro. As you know the base can make or break Ramen, and this little place hit it out of the park with even the most simple of broths. The broth was once again flavorful. The noodles were perfect and plentiful, the chicken was sliced and cooked perfectly. The boc choy added the crunch. We did add extra chicken. It was topped with a sprinkle of fried garlic. Perfect the way it was served but their is a list of items if you would like to customize.
We enjoyed our first visit. Our compliments...
Read moreLovely take home order!! Red Curry chicken, with the request of no bell pepper and correct heat level properly executed. And an order of Green curry chicken which I loved because it was made with eggplant and also because a favorite place from another place at one time long retired since made it the same way and I missed it. Great flavors. As a critique, slightly too sweet but it definitely wouldn't seem right if it was not a bit. Doesn't hurt when the spice level needs a friendly balance and a glass of water instead of a sweetened drink helps there too. I did enjoy it very much and will be trying this again and hope any reviewers try it and share your experience. I truly have no disappointment to add. Also, the restaurant was clean as was the restroom which lately may not be hard to keep up with lately. Surely happy I was in the area to discover...
