Update: The store manager got in contact with me and apologized for the inconvenience and ended up sending me a copy of the book free of charge. While I'm still disappointed in how my experience went down, I'm very appreciative of the manager getting in contact with me and apologizing for the misunderstanding. It might be a while before I feel comfortable going back to this location again but again, very appreciative. It's never my intention to be dramatic or act like a Karen in any capacity but, it was very confusing and frustrating. So, that being said, I can't do halves so official review change 3.5. Thank you again to the manager!
I have never had an issue with this store until today. I purchased a product online for pickup, it said it was available and everything was settled, then two hours later I get an email telling me my product has now sold out and they can't give it to me which doesn't make any sense because if someone places an online order, that order should automatically go on-hold for the person who bought it. So I called the store and was told that someone else called in and wanted the book so they put it on hold for them despite the fact that I had already purchased the item. After they refused to give me the product I spent $30 on, I asked if I would get a copy from their next batch and was told No I wouldn't and that I would (supposedly) get a refund. This absolutely unacceptable. If someone has spent money they now own the product they have purchased. I do not see how you can just refuse to give someone the item they've spent money on just because someone else called and asked to have it on hold when they haven't even paid for it. Telling me I can come in and get in two days. I am extremely disappointed in this location and will not be shopping here for the foreseeable future, if I ever decide to...
Read moreThis is a larger location. They have plenty of sections for New Releases and Trending books. They've got a #Booktok section, now separated by category. My partner was super interested in the Blind Date with a Book endcap they had. It is a neat concept that many bookstores are doing now.
I miss when this location had a cafe (long, long ago). It is still a nice store. I don't think there are any local bookstores in Colonial Heights that they're competing with. I think every town needs a bookstore, corporate chain or otherwise. It serves an important purpose ❤️
I recommend their Visual Merchandising team take a look at their catalog planograms. I noticed this weekend while shopping that the adult magazines (which I was truly surprised they stock) on the bottom shelf are directly next to the bottom shelf with kid/preteen targeted magazines (Pokemon etc). I'm sure this is an oversight but it's kind of weird and easily fixable. Just put the adult magazines on the back row of a higher shelf so they're not in line of sight for the kids, and they'd still be covered up by whatever is in...
Read moreIf I could give this store a 0 star I would. My family and I have always enjoyed shopping here but today was the last straw. My husband was showing my infant items in the store and an associate wrongful accused him of stealing. She forcibly got in his face and aggressively told him he either give her back said item that he supposedly stole or she would call the cops. My husband immediately emptied his pockets and kindly offered that she could look through our baby bag if she wanted too. The associate said she didn’t care to look through it and demanded he leave the store or else. My husband politely asked why she thought he might have stolen and her response was that he was near that area in the store. Her aggression will always live in the back of our minds because of how traumatizing it was for not only us but also for our infant. Even, the other associates seemed confused by her aggression. I will never shop here again or any other location because of...
