I travel a lot, this is a nice hotel. It's clean, it's bright, the rooms appear to be outstanding. My only mis giving is it's lacking massively in the restaurant department. I ordered a Caesar and chicken salad for $17. I did not get romaine lettuce obviously because of the scare, and the dressing was bottled. Also I received a chicken breast, I don't even think it was 2 oz, it was smaller than the palm of my hand. The restaurant is a bad value, it's nice if you arrive before 10pm when it closes. You won't have to go across the street to Panera, or any of the other nearby restaurants, which I highly recommend because for value this place is terrible in regards to the restaurant. I paid $119 for the room plus tax this night, I felt that to be a great price being I'm just outside of Richmond Virginia. Happy traveling everybody.
Update:
Here it is almost midnight the day I checked in and I have to say that I will never stay at this hotel again. I don't see where I should have to pay $120 a night and still have to pay for additional TV on top of all that. even when I called downstairs and they sent up a staff member to fix the problem even the staff member didn't know how to make the TV work and told me I had to pay for additional channels to watch. They give you a TV listing, of which most of them don't come in because you have to pay for them you know like HBO, Stars, that kind of thing. I'm sorry, I'm a seasoned traveler and I expect far more than what we get. I have a lot of followers and I take my responsibilities very seriously.
Update:
Well it's only taking me two hours outrageous as it is but I finally figured out how to make the TV work.I don't have DirecTV at home in fact I don't even know anybody that does except for one person and she said don't buy DirecTV it's not worth the trouble. Looking at the clicker it's not completely obvious on how to make this function correctly. Now I know some of you are sitting there going you're just a moron, you should have known how to make it work, not necessarily. Now just think about that for a moment, yes I probably should have known how to work it but i didn't and quite frankly that's not my responsibility to know how to make that quicker work. I'm renting a room and I'm expecting everything to function easily without complications. I think we all should stand up and stand against corporations who think it's okay to make our lives miserable at the end of the day and still collect a huge sum of money for very small amount of square footage thet quite frankly we don't care about we just need a bed to sleep in. And for just a day this place is not worth $120.
So now I'm going to make this completely official. I would not waste my time or my money coming to this facility. And for me that's pretty severe you really have to go out of your way to get me to say don't come here at all. I don't care how clean the room is, I don't care how comfortable the bed is, I don't care that it has a microwave or a refrigerator. I don't care it has a large LG TV. What I care about is what am I getting for my $120 and does it all work on demand.. I'm not poor, nope. I'm not even struggling, I'm quite comfortable in fact, but my dear friends, when traveling down the East Coast corridor, I would avoid the Hilton garden at all costs. I've come to the conclusion after many years of traveling that one is like the other, that's the thing about corporations you can always count on the corporation being good all the time, or really bad all the time. Sadly Hilton has become really bad all the time, and always overpriced giving you nothing and sending you on your way..
Beware and be forewarned. Happy trails everyone see you on the open road.
As all properties I evaluate I do go back usually after three or four months to see if it's still the same better world worse. And at that time I will re-evaluate the property and give you my...
Read moreI checked-in at this hotel on Monday(16 May 22, and checked-out on Friday morning). During my check-in, I signed-up for room-service on Tuesday and Wednesday. I spent the night and the next morning I went to work. Since I am an Engineer at a site which is under construction activities, I am required to use safety shoes instead of regular shoes. So I left my regular sports shoes in my room in a plastic bag in which I brought my safety shoes with me from my home(I usually Air-travel to Richmond and then reach my work site using rental car, I prefer to use sports shoes since they are comfortable for lengthy walks at the airport).
I returned from work on Tuesday evening and went to my room to freshen up for dinner with my colleagues. I noticed that my safety shoes were missing. While leaving the hotel for dinner, I complained at the front desk that my shoes were missing from my room and I was told that the matter will be investigated and it will be reported back to me. I complained at the front-desk after thorough inspection of my room because I did not want to be in a situation where the hotel would end up finding my shoes from my room after my complaint.
I thought that the housekeeper must have thrown a plastic bag in which I left my shoes considering it was garbage without opening the bag to check what was inside of the bag.
The investigation took 4 days and I was told on Friday evening (I was about to step-in to my home in Knoxville, TN when I received a call from GM) that the House-keeper who cleaned my room on Tuesday morning works there for more than 17 years and they have no reason not to trust them. The Housekeeper told her(GM) that they should not have thrown my shoes.
Now, I have ended up losing my shoes and I was made responsible for losing my own shoes because housekeepers did not throw them away. Knowing the fact that I stayed at this hotel for 22 days in the past three months and being a Hilton Honors member, I was made responsible for losing my own property indirectly. I was offered a partial reimbursement for the shoes which did not matter to me because I was expecting an apology that their housekeeping did not do their job properly because of which I ended up losing my shoes, the shoes may have been something else, either valuable or something cheap.
Conclusion: If you choose to stay here for any reason then either do not sign-up for room-service or be responsible for losing your own items because there are high chances that you will end up being responsible for losing your own item. I only lost shoes but you may end up losing precious items. So please think at-least twice before staying here and know the risk of staying at this hotel. And this hotel has a history of people (maintenance staff) stepping-in rooms even after seeing a do not disturb sign hanging on the door, please check google reviews to verify my claim, I saw that review when I was writing...
Read moreWe came up for a wedding. The hotel was on the accommodation list. The staff has been phenomenal. They were in the middle of a reception when we were checking in but they're were enough staff to check us in while containing the reception. We were given a ground floor room which was perfect for our family's needs. I tend to judge hotels on the standard of my own home. The bedding was white and well made. You could smell everything was freshly laundered. The room was well dusted even behind the television was clean. The mini fridge and microwave were also very clean. I even walked on the carpet barefoot because I felt they did a good job keeping everything in tip top shape. The bathroom was also in good order. Tiny rusty stain around the tub drain but I have that in my tubs. The shower curtains were clean with no mold or mildew. The vent in the bathroom had no switch so it would get very humid in there after a shower. Also, some cobwebs in the vent not scary bad but noticeable. The tile, mirror, sink and toilet were spotless so I can get over a few webs. We did not see signs of bugs at all even in the pool area. I always check for creepy crawlies, nothing, nada so super thumbs up for that. The pool has seats for special needs guests. I heartily applaud hilton for having this available. There were plenty of towels in the pool area. I didn't give 5 stars for a couple of small issues. One we are a family of four staying in a double room yet they only provide three towels. Staff quickly delivered three more to our room so not a huge issue but still would have been nice. The other reason was the fire alarm. Does it work? Yes. Is it loud? Yes. Did we need it? No thankfully no fire. The fire department came and it took a while to get it reset. So over the course of a couple of hours it went off a lot! I stopped counting after 7. After evacuation twice we stopped leaving the building. We would poke our head out and staff would keep telling us false alarm. But we had friends on the second floor and they didn't get any info from the hotel about it being a false alarm. So there is room for improvement as far as communication goes for an emergency. Would I stay here again? You bet. I'm confident that if needed the alarms are going to get us out of the building. There are plenty of exits to quickly get out of the building. So looking at the whole picture just an inconvenience with the alarms. One thing to note, there are signs that the first floor is a complete nonsmoking floor. This indicates that there are smoking rooms. If you have sensitivity to smells stress that in your reservation. I do have issues with smells and the room on the first floor had no trace of smoke smell. Again, good job. All in all a very pleasant visit. There is room service available a bar, breakfast buffet (not complimentary), and other amenities but we didn't use those so I can't comment on it. Maybe...
