The judge’s decision is unanimous… if in Colorado and you wanna climb, then almost any company will suffice… but if you want a climbing adventure you must go with the Colorado Climbing Company.
I am older and relatively new to climbing but didn’t want to limit myself to indoor or top-rope climbing. I had a couple days off work during Thanksgiving and sent Jeremiah (Owner) a couple of emails and did a brief phone interview before I packed my stuff and flew to Denver(I live in the Washington, D.C. area).
Day 1 was our introductory climb – the Flatirons. Jeremiah met me at the hotel and did an equipment check. It was a relatively quick approach to the base – this old man wasn’t totally outta breath. It was a great November day; sunny cool day with very light winds. Excellent pitches with just the right amount of challenge for a newbie – dodging ice falls, maneuvering through wet areas, etc. The best part was the traverse to the rappel station. Excellent, endless views in all directions. Easy rappel but crappy walk back due to ice. I survived and learned a lot and had fun. Could you ask for more? Answer = yes ! I wanted more.
Day 2 started with a drive south for some ice climbing. Again great weather but … ugh! We had to climb in the shade. A little more challenging approach more of an uphill hike. Did some great but very tiring (for me) multiptich climbs … thank-goodness Jeremiah didn’t put tons of screws in … I hate all those screw-stops. Unlike the Flatirons, my upper body finally got a good workout.
Day 3 was my alpine climb day. This story is way too long to tell. I never made to the summit but it was the most fun, the most challenging and the most educational of all the days.
I promised myself to return and climb in 2014. So do yourself a favor … call Jeremiah and say “I don’t want to just climb … I want a...
Read moreJeremiah was absolute amazing for my first outdoor experience! I called multiple companies tonsee if anyone had availability for while I would be in Colorado for work. A few took my number and said they need to find a guide (Guess they are just a broker), a few didnt answer. Jeremiah called me within hours of my email while he was on vacation out of the country! So not only does he own the company, but he's the lead climber. Cant even thabk him enough for not just such an amazing time, but the immense learning experience he made it. We didnt just climb, we discussed technique, how to handle gear, and proper etiquette while on the trails. He start you of on a simple climb to warm you up and see your skill set, and begins to step it up. Here I was thinking I would only be doing a few top rope climbs, but took me on a multi-pitch adventure! Being from Florida where we have no hills, I havent stopped bragging to my friends that indoor Climb with me 😂 And the fact that Jeremiah takes the time to get some amazing photos is priceless!!! Already booked my 2nd climb with him while still here for work! Theres people that do their job for the money, he definitely does it for the...
Read moreBig shout out to Colorado Climbing Company and our guide Josh for an excellent morning of climbing at North Cheyenne Cañon! Olivia was great at communication and made the trip happen with only a few days notice. The trip was for my kids (ages 11 and 16) and Josh was amazing and did a great job of teaching and encouraging. My 11 year old has been gym climbing regularly for years but my 16 year old has not. Josh was able to help the gym climber transfer her skills to rock while encouraging the non-climber with patience when he struggled. I was so proud that my 16 year old was able to top every route with Josh’s encouragement and coaching because he didn’t think he could do it and he wanted to give up more than once. Both kids had an awesome experience and felt very accomplished!! For those who are risk averse, the guide was very focused on safety. Climbing is inherently dangerous, but I felt very comfortable with Josh’s attention to safety. Both kids hope to climb outdoors again and we will definitely work with Colorado Climbing Company on our...
