I have an oddball early '90s amplifier that developed a buzz in the right channel. Norm had not worked on this specific model before but based on the equipment he has had through there I did not hesitate to leave it with him. Paid the diagnostic fee and was on my way. Heard back from Norm in half the time he said it might take for the diagnostics; he had a plan for repairs to the unit and that it would take another couple of weeks to get the parts in. Well I heard from him a few days later and he had wrapped it all up! As he was disassembling the amp to do some component testing he discovered an issue that was previously hidden from view which turned out to be the problem all along. He told me the diagnostic fee I had already paid would cover everything and that it was ready to go.
I could not be happier with the outcome. Beyond the repair itself, the fact that he quoted me 2-3 times what the actual cost ended up being, and then didn't create an excuse to charge me that amount after it was wrapped up is all the reason I need to visit his business again for any repairs I may need in the future. I can wholeheartedly recommend Norbern...
Read moreI’d been wanting to get my old receiver fixed for a few years. I called Norbern Electronics last year and was placed on a waiting list to have my receiver/amp looked at. The sound dial was crackling and I’d often get no sound. Ashley called me last week and asked if I was still interested in having my amplifier fixed. Of course I was and I took my 1985 Sansui receiver to be looked at. Toni assisted me at the desk and said Norm would take a look at it and she’d get back with me which she did the following day. Norm finished in just a few days, called me personally and said the job was done and explained exactly what work he’d done. Norm was able to get it working like brand new. I have a tape deck I’ll be taking to Norm in the future. Honest company and upfront. I just reconnected everything and it is working beautifully. I plan on attaching a new turntable. Very stoked! I highly recommend Norbern...
Read moreI agree with the first review. I took a home theater receiver in for repair that was damaged by lightning. The HDMI output wasn't working. It took 10-14 days for him to troubleshoot it. He said nothing was wrong with it. I brought it home, hooked it up and I still didn't have a TV picture. I took it back, by the way a 50 mile roundtrip each time. He again said nothing was wrong with it. I brought it home, hooked it up and still broken. Swapped out HDMI cables to make sure that it wasn't the cables. I have a feeling this guy is incompetent and if he doesn't know what to do, he collects the diagnostic fee and doesn't do anything else. The other two components I took in at the same time, he said were both unrepairable. Hmmmm..... I've been in the shop three times. I've never seen him with his face in an electronic component working on it. Don't do business...
