Well, I wanted to give it one star but the food was actually pretty good. Multiple people came in in the time we were there and were finally acknowledged standing at the counter for 5 minutes. We had 3, 2 adults 1 child. And from the time we sat down to when the food was served it was easily an hour and probably even more. Shoulda read the reviews, there were a lot of them saying this. I am sure it will be blamed on covid, but I dont think so. There was 2 servers, and one asked what drinks we wanted. Then the other asked what food we wanted. We both ordered water and OJ. And the water arrived about 4 minutes after ordering. And we saw the waitress in the back chatting with a few co workers, wiped down menus. And then continued to chat with the other waitress. And about 8 minutes later finally pours OJ out of a jug. And I may be biased after seeing that, but the OJ tasted like sunny D. And when the OJ was delivered we were told we would be getting our order taken soon. The other waitress had come back to serve us. Not sure why they were switching like that. But she took our order about 5 minutes after OJ delivery. My sister asked for her green chili to be delivered first. And it took about 35 minutes for an omelet, country fried steak, and a kids meal with sausage, bacon, toast, and eggs to come out. And about 20 minutes in we were told by the food waitress sorry for the wait. My sister got her green chili after the meal as well. And mind you there was only about 6 people that came in after us. The food was very delicious, the green chili was basically diced green chili's and diced tomatos. My sisters country fried steak was about 15$, my omelet was pretty close to 13$, and my nephews kids meal was let's say 8$. So 36$, but I had 45$ in my account and they came back saying declined for insufficient funds. I was like what the hell. I looked at the reciept, and the reciept said 47$... The tiny drinks were 4$ and the kids drink was 3$. I dont know if the theme is to go with the cost of living in the Colorado. But with eggs costing about .10$ a piece, A pack of bacon being 5$, jug of OJ 3$, a steak being 10$, 1 lb hamburger 3$, 4 jalapeños 1.50$, and flour and seasonings being 5$ for each, 1 lb sausage 5$ The cost to make like 5 omelets, 2 kids plates and 1 steak thats quite a bit profit, because some of those items can make multiple meals. We were better off waiting 45 minutes at the omelet parlor. Their food is better, their service is far better, and their prices are about the same(after checking they are actually cheaper by like 4$). I mean 47$ for 3 meals, I think I will go to taco bell or McDonald's for breakfast from now on. And I may be back to give it another shot if family is in town again. But I will be checking all other...
Read moreI’m not sure where to start. It’s a Cute little restaurant. Upon walking in we waited about 5 mins just to get greeted just to be told to sit wherever we would like. (There’s a sign up front saying to wait to be seated). Then we sat down and had to ask for a high chair when we had our 20 month old baby with us. (Should have been a given).
Then we were not given menus, or asked for our drink order or anything for a good 15 minutes. We were still not given menus at this point … the customer behind us had to get us menus… weird!!!
When we finally got menus, it took another 10-15 mins for her to come up to us to take our order. I placed my babies order first. They DO NOT have a kids meal. You have to order everything separately!! The kids drink was $3!! For a small milk. Kids drinks are usually included in the kids meal at literally every other restaurant I’ve ever been too! Then you have to order the entree separately and the side also separately!
The food was really good!! However, we waited a reallyyyy longgg time for our food!! There was only the one customer behind us who was already done eating, the one who got us menus and another table of 2 that walked in way after we ordered our food. Food was about $20 a person, which is fine. I don’t mind paying for good food from scratch at all!
When they delivered my son’s food to us, we had to wait another few mins to get silverware. Because when we were sat, we were sat with no menus OR silverware.
We weren’t asked for refills. Sat pretty much the whole meal needing a refill. My bf had to get up and ask for a refill on his lemonade and she came to the table and my water had been empty almost the whole time and was never offered a refill.
I also had to get up and ask for ranch because once the server delivered our food she never came to check back to see how the food was or anything!! No refills. No ranch or anything unless you get up and ask for it yourself. It also is advertised as free refills and he had to ask for a refill because we were never checked on, and I had water, and still didn’t get a refill….. the server was really nice, but seemed to never have waitressed before. She definitely needs training!!! Worst service we have had in a really long time!! Again, very nice! Just not good at her job at all. It seemed like it was her first day ever serving in her life tbh!!
Blahhh experience. I think the other customers made the experience a decent one. However, idk if I’ll ever go back or recommend to anyone. Unless they don’t have little kids with them, or have anywhere to be for a...
Read moreAfter having a short day at work, my wife and I had some free time to enjoy a local food restaurant for brunch. We decided on Red Rock Cafe because we both were having a craving for biscuits and gravy.
After making the short drive and walking into the restaurant, we were delighted to see the cozy nature of their establishment. We were seated quickly and our server was very attentive. She was spunky and her positive energy was definitely well received!
The cool thing about this place is that they serve both breakfast and lunch ALL DAY. Talk about endless amount of options!
Now for the food! We each didn’t have any food for around 16 hours. We were starving after working out in the morning and doing a little bit of work!
We started off by ordering the biscuits and gravy. Then I ordered the Cowboy Burger with no cheese or tomato and upgraded my side to the onion rings. Additionally, I ordered a side of hash browns as well. The wife ordered a highly customizable breakfast burrito.
First thing is first, everything came out hot and the serving size is definitely plentiful for all options! Also everything was 100% correct with the order, you just can’t beat that!
Now the taste, the biscuits and gravy are definitely the dish that stood out the most. It’s no wonder why this is a staple for Colorado Springs locals. The rich gravy complemented the sturdy yet soft biscuit perfectly. It’s very hard to get the perfect consistency on biscuits and gravy but The Rock Cafe did it!
Now the breakfast burrito was talked very highly about - especially the amount of fixings you get inside. Great value.
I was genuinely surprised by my side of hash browns. Great exterior crunch with a wonderful taste.
Now the burger was my favorite thing here! This savory burger had a great compliment of bacon and bbq sauce to really take this up a notch. They gave me a generous serving size of onion rings for the cost and they didn’t skimp out on taste! The light brown crunchy exterior was not too oily or overbearing. Again genuinely shocked at how much I loved the onion rings.
Overall this place is a grand slam for brunch. This was my first time in and we both walked out satisfied with the entire experience. Needless to say, we will be back sooner...
