Fitz's Fish Ponds — Local services in Colts Neck Township

My backyard koi pond looked awful! It happened gradually over the last ten years (despite my do-it-yourself research, remedies, and calls to local pond and garden companies). But in the last couple of years, it had gotten so swampy-looking, I could not see my fish unless they came all the way to the surface. Last month, I finally accepted that I needed professional help, and contacted Fitz's Fish Ponds. Andrew and Travis arrived on schedule and began the hours-long process of restoring my pond. It was fascinating to watch! They set up the equivalent of a kid's swimming pool, filled it, and then carefully transferred all of my fish out of the pond and into the pool. It had been so long since I had seen all my fish at once, I was surprised at the number, and happy to hear from Andrew that they were healthy! They explained in advance, what was going to take place, which I appreciated. They totally drained the pond, then began the process of removing the years of slime, weeds, and organic growths that had attached to the walls and floor of the pond liner. They climbed into the empty pond, manually scrubbed all the surfaces, and power-washed everything. At each step they answered every question I had, with cheerfulness and patience. I have to say this is the best company out there. I first visited their new Colts Neck store and the employees there are amazing. Thomas and Jonathan have helped with all my questions and saved my fish when I had an ammonia spike. Thomas convinced me to call their pond construction team because I wanted to make my pond bigger. Tim showed up a few days later and helped me plan the pond of my dream. He was very knowledgeable and not pushy at all. He answered all my questions I had and I ended up booking them. Within 2 weeks their crew showed up. Jim the foreman and the workers Josue, Hernan, and Felix constructed the pond of my dreams within a week. Tim and Steve the COO of the company checked in during construction to make sure everything was going smoothly. After my pond was finished I met AJ who invited me to the fish farm and spends hours with me while I picked out fish. We found Fitz’s Fish Ponds a few years ago and we love them. We are so happy they now have a store in Colts Neck. What makes it better are Tom and Austin and the friendly atmosphere they have created. We went last Sunday and went back yesterday to purchase some fish. If you have been to the others in Greenbrook and Fairfield, you will see that Colts Neck is more elevated. You walk into Tom’s smiling face and a showroom with a pond, food, maintenance and other supplies. There are 3 other areas of the store including the “room of fish”. Austin was very patient with me picking out the perfect 3 fish to add to our pond and Tom swooped in and found the most beautiful fish to round out our assortment. Greenbrook is closer to our work but Colts Neck is closer to our home so we have found a new Fitz’s home.
