Currently a student and I regret transferring here. They have the degree that I want to study but classes are way too hard for it being 8 week classes. A lot of the courses are 2-3 discussions a wk 3-4 paragraphs each, plus a homework assignment, quiz, and then like two papers due in between plus two exams. For it being online classes they’re not flexible at all. It’s impossible to work a job and have to do this much amount of work for ONE class. My first course that I took here was like that and I couldn’t do anything except go to work, come back and do homework. On my days off I would spend the entire day doing assignments. It honestly became very stressful for me, because I had no balance between school plus just me being able to do everyday things. Didn’t even have time to study either because of the amount of assignments I had. They definitely didn’t keep in mind that majority of the people taking online classes is due to them having other priorities and no time to go in person. If you’re an online student you also don’t have any breaks except a winter break. I didn’t know this at all and I find it unfair that campus students do get those breaks but full time online students don’t. At my old college anytime we finished 8 week class we had a one week break plus all the other breaks colleges normally have. No school breaks and the amount of workload is crazy. I’m honestly thinking about transferring back to my old college or a different one for my sanity. The only plus is that they have military tuition rate and you don’t pay for your books. So if you’re doing online because you have work or other priorities and are thinking about doing full time would not...
Read moreWhere do I start. I enrolled and thought I was going to a great college. It's not the worst but definitely not the best. When I started I never received credit for having an associates degree, which they knew I had. I mentioned this to my advisor and nothing was done. I ended up taking extra classes that should have been counted and transferred. I finally received credit for it like a year or so afterwards. A lot of help that's going to do if I already was forced to take the classes. Let's not get on Melissa Jusino. All she does is texts the whole time you are trying to register or ask questions. I called her for a week straight with no response. Not to mention she tried to register me for classes I didn't need. I had to tell her that I didn't need those classes. Maybe if she wasn't texting, she would've known what was going on. I was told by my previous college to go here since they had a new agreement. Big mistakes I should've went to the start university that would've took all of my credits. They definitely had me fooled. They put on a good show until it's time to get credits for any transfers. They want the money at the end of the day. I don't mind paying because I'm receiving an education but I do mind having to repeat classes or not receiving the proper credit for classes because they dropped the ball. It's crazy because I literally just told a friend to go here and I had to text him back and say...
Read moreSince they have instituted 6 sessions Columbia College has proven they are not about the students. By making this move they force students to take student loans or lose part of their Pell grant due to not being enrolled full time. They try telling their students that 6 sessions per year will benefit them. Being a student that is currently enrolled and have been for a few years now I can tell you it is of no good to the student.
Not only does it cost us more but instead of having any type of break between already accelerated courses we only have two days off. This is ultimately going to lead to more stressed out students and lower GPA's.
There was a time I recommended this College to everyone I came across.
Now sadly I make it very clear Columbia College is the worst college you could attend. It is a joke.
Rolla's new policy if we don't offer something you need in seat take it online. Not mentioning that not only are online courses significantly more expensive but the work that is required for these is beyond reason.
I am talking at minimum double the workload of an in seat class.
The teachers are great, administration from the main campus down is terrible.
This is no longer a student centered college no matter what their...
