I subscribed to the barnyard and bounty box. I’ve been highly disappointed. A lot of the produce looks bad when I pick it up. I have to cook many things immediately. Well, the produce is supposed to be for the week. I assumed I would be getting premium produce, meat, and dairy for a premium price, but I feel as though I’m getting the produce that can’t be sold in stores due to imperfections and spoiling . . . at a premium price. I have received poor customer service as well. I was told I’d receive two broccoli heads with my last order, for example. I only received one, and when I called, the lady was like, “well, the woman who said that misspoke, or the head of broccoli was so big we only gave you one, or, or . . .” Okayyyy, lady! I get it! You don’t want to help your customer. No worries. I won’t be one for long! The “policies” at the store are different every time I go to the store. I could go on, but you get my point. It’s been an overall bad experience and I wish I lived near St. Charles so I could be part of the CSA my friend belongs to, but alas, it will be the farmers market for me. The Root Cellar ALWAYS ALWAYS accommodates my food restrictions, which have been beyond my allergies because of additional dietary restrictions for other medical issues. Even with those and thd Balsam of Peru allergy, I leave with the same amount of items as anyone else every time. They have also accommodated my fight with chronic pain, allowing me to pick up the next day. No complaints, other than I wish it was cheaper, but I want the farmers to have a fair rate. It's not more expensive than shopping at an organic market, from my experience, and it makes participating in a farm share attainable for someone on a budget. Read moreHorrible customer service. Was charged 3 times when I started the subscription, it took the manager a month to even email me back after talking to the store associates. During that time I requested my boxes be put on hold until I heard back from the manager. Every time I called I could only speak to an associate who said they would put a note on my file. When I last reached out to the manager she said she had no record of any notes on my file and did not refund me the boxes or money. She did not even apologize for the inconvenience, the inconvenience of being out over $100 because of their lack of communication.
