I already want to go back to COMO, just so I can eat at, Ozark Mountain Biscuit & Bar again. Yes, it was that damn good. It was so good, I want an extra star to give them.
A group of 5 cousins was down in COMO to celebrate the birthdays of 2 local cousins. When we asked where should we all go for breakfast on Saturday morning, they didn't even take a breath before saying, Ozark Mountain Biscuit. They knew we all were foodies, who loved breakfast.
I consider myself a connoisseur of biscuits and gravy and Ozark has definitely mastered this dish. In their "our story" on their website, boost about family recipes being handed down for generations. I'm glad no-one lost the biscuit recipe. They're huge, fluffy/flaky and have a golden crispy outside.
Ozark just doesn't offer one type of gravy, they give you two to choose from. Having been raised on a farm, I choose, sausage which is from Patchwork Farms. It was had the perfect texture and was filled with chunks of flavorful sausage. The other choice is a vegetarian, made with local oyster mushrooms. I love it when local supports local.
You're given the opportunity to add two eggs to your order of B&G and I had mine scrambled with white cheddar cheese. When my plate was presented to me, I was surprised that the eggs were placed on top of my biscuits. I was expecting them on the side, but being on top actually was better. I was still able to have single egg bites and dual bites as well.
Thumbs up for their Bloody Mary and Mimosas, too. My mimosa had a heavy pour of bubbles, which always wins me over. Another cousin had the Bloody Mary, that was served in a short glass. A small pot of coffee was brought to the table, making it easy to refill cups as we chatted.
Oh, I almost forgot. We all shared a couple of huge Cinnamon Rolls. It was like having a appetizer for breakfast. If wasn't overly sweet and had the perfect amount of glaze on top.
Our server was friendly and provided top notch service for our large group.
I gotta go back, I want to try the Chicken Fried Steak for breakfast and the Fried...
Read moreFirst time here so had some good expectations. Food was pretty good but not worth the price. Brunch menu could have had a few more options very basic.
They put us at a round table with a wheelchair so it was almost impossible to get everyone in the table. Didn’t seem to care or ask if it was okay. So not wheelchair friendly.
Food was pretty good my biscuit sandwich was cold but the other food seemed better. Make sure to check your receipts I didn’t notice until I had left but we had 2 regular mimosas and one special that was $4 more they charged us for 2 special mimosas and one regular. Not the end of the world but didn’t seem like an accident.
Service was pretty good other than the incorrect charge just not worth the cost for biscuits and gravy. Spending $135 on breakfast for 3 people would not have been worth it more than once to try it out. No eggs Benedict on the menu which I understand it’s a biscuit place just seems like a standard brunch menu option. They also charge extra for maple syrup which I can understand and I wanted it but was not told or asked just noticed it on my bill after. If you charge $13 for waffles I had expected it would come with syrup. I would have gotten the real maple syrup if asked and it told it was $1.50 extra It just makes them really $14.50 for the waffles seems like they add on each extra thing. I got the biscuit sandwich meat was extra $2 which I wanted just seems a little much for brunch. Seems affordable until they add on each of the extras $4 for gravy etc . I would rather have it included in the price who eats dry waffles. If your going to add everything extra make sure the server mentions hey the gravy up charge I just asked if you wanted is an extra $4 for your basic breakfast plate that was already $17. Also basic things are not included so mention they are extra I will say yea but at least I understand. I had gift cards so wasn’t really a big deal but I won’t be back unfortunately. Would really have loved to find a solid...
Read moreThe Service is SO amazing here, I felt like a celebrity. I’m not even exaggerating. The owner (I think, I didn’t quite hear 😬) served our meal and as he set the plate down, noticed that the chicken breast in the fried chicken dinner was on the smaller side and explained that their chickens are sourced from a local organic farm and that is why there is such variability in the size of the cuts. AND THEN he offered to bring out another, larger, somehow juicier, perfectly fried, golden brown breast to make up for the seemingly normal wonderfully prepared breast on the plate! The Fried chicken dinner is the ultimate in comfort food. Warm, real mashed potatoes with sawmill gravy and perfectly steamed fresh green beans. They still had a snap but were tooth tender. The plating and presentation were very appealing. We had the baked Camembert and pepper jelly. I wish it was served in a dish that was easier to scoop from and the pita bread sticks didn’t feel like the right vehicle. However that was the best pepper jelly ever and I want it on literally everything. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and was attentive even though the location was popping on a Friday night. My guess is that people were drawn to the braised beef short ribs. Fork tender, deeply flavorful and served on a bed of creamy grits that were almost a risotto like texture. Surrounded by a tangy peach whiskey sauce that completed the fatty beef rib. Again, plating was on point. I don’t usually notice plating, but this is very clean, thoughtfully arranged, noticeable effort was made to have a striking composition on blank white dishes. This kind of blew my mind. The biscuit truck that I love so much (Sooie Pig for life! Boss Hog is my jam if I have to share with the husband) grew into this lovely, professional restaurant that serves their popular items and elevates their menu in a pleasantly surprising way. Try the pumpkin cheesecake...
