Splitting the difference as the actual store is not the primary cause for the low score, otherwise would have given only a 1. Bought a chair from them and the cylinder started leaking and then the lumbar support broke. Was told by the store that if something went wrong with the chair, since we bought the extended warranty, we would not need to worry about replacing parts and a new chair would be sent... however the cylinder started to lead and then the lumbar support broke and they are saying we need to get a hammer to beat the base off and take a part and patch back together. This is an office, not a pit crew for poorly made items. I don't keep a hammer, pipe wrench, etc in my desk and certainly don't have the time, nor 'back' to flip chairs, beat on them to brake bonds and rebuild. So now, I am sitting in a sunken chair making my back worse as I scrounge around to see what I can find in terms of a replacement chair ad the parts may not be here for 7 to 10 days. This was after almost a week before anyone responded to the email / phone calls about the situation. Even then, don't know how I will make the repairs as I am not able to lift the chair to flip upside down, etc. - before anyone thinks anything, the chair was originally assembled at my home where I have tools and then hauled here to the office and with me doing only work at home where I have the proper set up. I don't have the capabilities now to haul this home, wait for parts and then fix and haul back. As a small business owner I work during my stay's and have been consistently impressed with Office Max. Each store visit, I’m greeted quickly and warmly. It’s obvious to me the associates work as a team which improves efficiency and overall service. The quality and variety of products they carry really helps my business and personal needs. My most recent visit was for print material. I was frustrated by another place not having my project completed at deadline and arrived at the store anxious and irritated. A young man welcomed me, helped as best he could and referred me to someone with more experience. Gracie took over who was nearly off shift and eventually Alana. She was patient and so helpful getting my emailed print files in order, doing a print sample to ensure it was done right before running the job. Read moreI went in there today to pick up an online order, and received help from a young lady that was extremely nice. My order was not ready yet, and two older aged women came into the picture. They proceeded to complain to me about how I came in there way too early for my order, and snapped with an attitude after I simply tried to help. Even the younger lady today me how sorry she was about how rude they were to me, and about how that was uncalled for. I gave the two stars for her, she was amazing. Meanwhile, having two employees gang up and continue to be rude to the point, the other girl felt so bad she apologized, was unnecessary. I work in retail as well, I know times can be rough and customers can be super rude. Which, is why I go out of the way to be extra nice to employees. This was just so much. My first and only time going in here. But an extra thank you to the young lady who helped me and apologized, she was so nice and sympathetic. She deserves a raise, and she also deserves...
