My dog, Sugar, was in my front yard when the dog warden ( who was only on my street for a different dog!) Picked her up. I live in a nice neighborhood, my dogs and my neighbors dogs play all the time, my dogs do not leave my yard. He just so happen to be there for an actual stray dog and picked up my sugar because she wasn't behind my fence! I literally had just got home from work and let my two dogs out, Sugar went to the front yard and Prince stayed in the back yard.. my sliding glass door was open the whole time prince comes in and I can't find my Sugar. So I'm driving all over my neighborhood to find her and I can't. I did follow the FCAS at the time so the next morning on my way to work I check their page and sure enough, I see my dog. So I go to work, let my boss know what had happened. He could see how frantic and upset I was(she has never been away from me or her brother). So I leave work to go pick her up, when I get there I find out that I have to have her rabies records and her registration, since I didn't know this and just left straight from work to go get her I didn't have these things with me. So in an attempt to just get this whole ordeal over with I just had them redo everything and I paid for it plus her redemption fees with no hesitatio. I didn't want to have to leave there go back home get those things then drive back to the shelter and potentially have her be there another night. One was long enough. So they redid her rabies and registration for me no problem then I get her and we go home. While I was there the warden that picked her up said to me "oh your here to get the DOGS from Sturbridge?" I replied no I have one dog I'm picking up. He then proceeded to tell me he was there on another call forr a stray and just so happened to see my sugar in front of a brown house( my house). He was extremely rude a. So I thought the whole ordeal was over with, WRONG. I GET A phone call recently that I have potential misdemeanor charges for not having those things with me when I picked her up. I explained to him that I could easily have my vet fax over the records that he wanted and I was told not. That I signed the paper stat8!& That I didn't have those things( even though I did just not with me at the time I was more concerned with just getting her out of that environment and back home ) so either pay a huge fine, or take a zoom class about responsible pet ownership! I am the poster girl when it comes to responsible pet ownership!!!! Spoiled, vet visits for enev the most minor of things, shots on a schedule, flea treatment every three months and heartworm prevention every month! This is the most awful experience I've ever had to deal with, and I support the FCAS, not anymore. I donated, shared the post about dog intake or dogs that where needed to be adopted. I will never support this place again. I thought it was supposed to bring happiness and love to the animal world? What was such a stressful time in my life I was so happy to see that she was there and I could go get her. I thought it was goingg to be a happy moment.. I will never support this place...
Read moreThe FCDS is a disgusting organization ran by rude, ignorant, and untrained staff members. An incident occurred last week where I was in the process of fostering to adopt a young dog. That dog spent 2 days in my home with my two-year-old rescue dog. They hit it off immediately and became quite bonded in a matter of 48 hours. When I returned days later to finalize the adoption, FCDS informed me that they did not have my information in the system (due to staff members not properly following protocol on their end). They told me without investigating the situation that the dog was going to be adopted to a couple that never met the dog. During this horrific experience at the shelter, not one employee apologized for not documenting/filing the proper paperwork for the adoption. I begged and pleaded for answers, to speak with higher-up staff and was met with nasty attitudes, dismissiveness, and rudeness. I was forced to give the dog back to the shelter and have another couple adopt him, because FCDS did not own up to their MASSIVE mistake of mishandling the situation. Mind you, the two adaptors who wanted this dog had NEVER met him and had only seen him online from a picture. FCDS did not reach out to me ONCE during the dog being in my care to let me know another family was interested in the dog. They had absolutely no answer as to why nobody contacted me and begs the question if the dog was being kept track of, which is extremely concerning. FCDS did NOT care about what was BEST for the dog, just what was less of a headache for them. I have sent a lengthy email to the Director and Assistant Director informing them of everything that occurred on their watch with their poorly trained and RUDE employees. Their response was "we will look into this matter" and I have yet to hear back from them. I have spoken to many people from other rescues/shelters/organizations in the area and they have provided me the same feedback as my experience. I do NOT want people to not adopt dogs at this shelter, because all pups deserve a chance at a great life. However, the employees at FCDS should be ashamed and disgusted with how they conduct themselves. If your ultimate goal (FCDS) is to find loving homes for dogs in need, think about how you treat adopters and run your organization if you want people adopt and spread positive reviews about...
Read moreHave went 3 times to check on the dog we would like to adopt to make sure that he is still there and not up for adoption yet. The dog was brought in on Christmas Eve as a stray and has the note on his cage as "needs behavior assessment . Do not walk" Well , he has been in his cage for 7 days so far with no walks? I asked to visit with the dog and they told me the first day that he was not allowed as he had not been assessed. I went back with my husband to see the dog the next day, (last night )and the dog still had not been assessed, and the name on the dog's cage was not the same as the name in the system! The tall man with the grey hair and glasses rarely made eye contact, and told my husband that the dog was neutered (and later retracted his comment and stated this was not true, he is not fixed yet) and that the dog had a broken tail which had to be amputated and that we should " just go ahead and look at another dog" Well, excuse me ,. but we really want this dog , thank you very much. The man did get the dog out and let us interact with him, but when the dog got so excited from finally being able to get out of the cage, and peed, the man was obviously annoyed. I told the man to please get me some paper towels and I cleaned it up myself . I'm sorry but if you are stressed out as a volunteer at a shelter, maybe take a day off. I went to the front, with all of the young girls who did not make eye contact and told them that they had the wrong name for the dog on the cage vs what is in the system and that I already filled out the application. They seemed like I was bothering them and acted like they had no clue what i was saying, I had to break it down to them. I asked when the dog's surgery would be . They said, "probably Monday " I asked should I call to see when he will be placed for adoption? They said "sure, if you want to" Ok, if you are seriously wanting these animals to be adopted into a caring, loving and responsible home, could you at least make us feel that we are important for the dog's happiness and over all well being??? I really hope I get this dog and I am going to say something to the director. It was so far a...
