We wanted to try the newest higher-end steak place in Cbus and it didn't disappoint. The location is the old Champs off Olentangy and is easy to find and park. The place is welcoming and has some unique features, such as the wine locker and some local painter art that allows for conversation on local Ohio celebs. Everyone there from the receptionist to the manager on duty, Matt? were helpful and insightful. Juan and Danielle as the wait staff were especially knowledgeable and Danielle was able to crush the wine selection for us using their nice I-pad type device for the wine list, another solid tech feature to review what you want. (not sure if the place had a Somm?)
If we had more time, the menu would have been one where we wanted to go pick one of everything to just compare & contrast.
The bread basket is off the hook with the solid butter pad and I would have been fine to eat the matzo type bread with butter if they let me.
Ultimately, we selected two filets, one bone in and both were cooked to our liking and tasted great. The two sides, creamed spinach and the mashed potatoes were both solid choices, the spinach slightly different with a hint of lemon on the finish? Every place has it's own twist, RC's version has the best actual spinach taste at the end of it, but we all love the cream part!
We were provided two Dom sparkling wines gratis for my gf's birthday and the place just felt warm and welcoming. The prices were reasonable for this genre and the sides were quite large in our opinion.
I'm not scoring at home, but Eddie Merlot's still overall beats this place-they don't have a Jana, but we'd definitely come back and try more of their menu.
What's not to like here?
My score is a 4.8 out...
Read moreIm bias, first off, but the rare time i go out to eat to celebrate, at such an expensive restaurant, i expect to be wowwed. Typical old school steak house vibes inside, nice but stuffy atmosphere, little too formal and scripted for me. My biggest complaint was the lobster bisque had zero flavor and i swear its the same soup from a bag that they use at brio, heavy on the cornstartch. A tiny garnish of lobster, of which was not fresh had zero taste, surely frozen vacuum packed, i wondered if some of it was immitation. The steaks which theyre known for came out wonderful. Wasn’t overly impressed with the service , it was slow sunday night too. We’re easy. It was like a chore , had to ask three times for more water never got it. Finally ordered a glass of wine it came right out and i dont even drink. The appetizers were dripping in grease, had bubble gut all night. I wouldnt go back. Expect to soend a hundred bucks a head plus tip. The only thing quality were the steaks and the salad. Swear the wild mushrooms i got were rehydrated at least the shitakes seemed like it. Really disappointed in the lobster bisque straight out of a plastic bag, a lot of restaurants use it. If they would make stuff fresh daily theyd probably lose too much money, its a chain so no suprise. In my opinion a huge waste of money. Go somewhere local small time that appreciates your dollars and business, and makes everything Scratch. Wait...
Read moreI took my mother to Capital Grille last weekend, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The manager, Grant, came and spoke to us individually and made us (especially my mother) feel extremely special. The servers and bartenders all greeted us individually which really elevated the experience. While we were waiting for our entrees, the head chef Alex, came out of the kitchen and brought us a beautiful amuse-bouche of tuna sashimi in a ponzu sauce and the prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella appetizer (on the house). My mother was over the moon and was so grateful to meet such a sweet and thoughtful chef. We had the wagyu burger and wine pairing they were offering, and everything came out great. Our bartender, Stephanie, went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience and gave us a great recommendation on which wine to pair with the burger. She had an infectious positive energy and attitude that put us at ease. And just when we thought we had had one of the best service experiences in Columbus, Grant brought us a lovely port to have with our crème brûlée. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience for my mother. She repeatedly told me throughout the dinner and afterwards how special everyone made her feel. I cannot recommend this place enough for the above and beyond service they provided us. Now, my mother and I have a memory that we can...
