William Weidinger - Goldsmith & Jewelry Design — Local services in Columbus

I have worked with Bill and his son Andy over the past six months to create an engagement ring for my fiance and our wedding bands. Their customer service has been excellent, only being outclassed by the quality of their work. They strive to only create the best jewelry, and that includes the selection of the stones. I did my research before working with them, and the prices they quoted me for the diamonds was competitive to, if not slightly less than, the costs that I found online. However, unlike a large online diamond wholesaler, they have hand selected and bought (not leased) all of the diamonds in their store, choosing only the best of each grade and those with excellent cuts.

When I went to their store, Bill and Andy both spent much time explaining their creative process, accurately describing the optical physics of diamonds, and helping me view each stone individually under the scope. They worked with my budget to select the perfect diamond for my fiance, understanding that as a graduate student my budget was limited. Both Bill and Andy are friendly, easy to talk to, and never pressured me to make a purchase. They took incredible pride in their work, and even if I move from Columbus I will continue working with them.

Besides their quality of work and excellent service, the biggest draw for me was the unique shape of their ring bands. Instead of a circular shape, the band is trapezoidal to prevent the ring from rotating and to create a comfortable fit that doesn't pinch at any point. This is a difficult design to produce, so be prepared to pay for the hours that these artists put into hand crafting each ring. This is a cost well worth paying for a ring that will be worn for the rest of ones life.

I highly recommend Weidinger Jewelers. I have come to them twice about re-sizing a ring – once to re-size an antique engagement ring, and again to re-size my recently deceased mother-in-law’s estate engagement ring. Bill has greeted me both times very warmly and provided me with excellent customer service. I’m not much of a fancy jewelry person, but Bill took the time to educate me about both rings, explaining the potential longevity of the settings, the type of diamonds, and allowed me to even examine the diamond under a microscope to learn about its unique qualities. I am very pleased with the results of both rings he re-sized for me, especially since I did not want to simply drop off my mother-in-law’s ring to any old jeweler. I knew Bill would be careful and thorough in his work.

I am actually surprised I didn't write a review the first time. About a year ago I commissioned Mr. Weidinger for an engagement ring. The result of which was the the absolutely gorgeous pink sapphire ring my fiancee uses to dunk on all catty women she works with.
