We were so excited to go here because we read other reviews.
We made a reservation on the fly and was only able to get a 7:45 pm spot.
We arrived and was greeted promptly. We sat down, received waters right away and we ordered appetizers. We were given the most delicious bread and butter and waited for our appetizers. We ordered the brushetta and the fried vegetable plate. The appetizers were delicious. They came and then we ordered.
There were 4 of us. Two adults and two teenagers. Our oldest ordered angel pasta with a vegan sauce. Our youngest daughter ordered a steak, with a ceasar salad. I ordered spaghetti with a meat sauce and a wedge salad with no garganzola cheese (they happily substituted the cheese with fresh mozerella). My husband ordered a salmon dish, with roasted pepper and linguine and also got a wedge.
The ceasar salad came first and our daughter was finished with it before anything else came. I think they treated her salad as part of her dinner because it didn't come out with the other salads, but they waited her to finish it before bringing any of the other meals. We waited almost 40 minutes for the remainder of our order.
Our oldest daughters meal came and it was vegan sauce, but they added cheese to the top of it. 🤔 When we asked about it, our waitress just said, "that's okay, isn't it"? Our daughter just didn't want to cause a scene, so she said, yes, I guess that's fine". She told us, she would eat around it.
Then my husband and I were given our food and it was delicious.
I would like to tell you beware of the pasta portions, they are HUGE! At the end of the meal, we were asked if we would like boxes and because we are traveling, we had to say no. There was no where for us to keep it cold or heat it up.
After that, we were wanting dessert, but had to ask another waitress for the menu. She happily went and got one for us and told us she would let our waitress know. Our waitress never came to check on us and at that point, we were a little frustrated on why that was. Maybe it wasn't a good night for her, we weren't sure.
So, overall, the food was good and if ever in town again, we would go back, but we would hope we would have...
Read moreI love this place. Was always a perfect date, especially the al fresco dining, late into the evening on a fall night. It has been a decade since I moved away to Manhattan, but every couple months I have been lucky enough to make it back to Columbus; 'the Tratt' is always my first dinner when I arrive. While I do try a lot of the specials, there are a few favorites I return to; especially the puttenesca and a couple of the veal dishes. The ravioli is homemade daily and they will even make special meatballs for me when I ask. I like the strawberry salad; spinach based and eats like a meal. Nowadays I eat up at the bar because it is lively, fun and I usually travel into town by myself; it also serves as a good meeting spot as my friends trickle in from my old work and we head out for a night in Grandview. I should mention the wine list is excellent, well chosen and always with a couple bottles priced at retail. Also, the mark up on the other bottles is far less than is typical when out at fine dining. I can see why they were recognized by the wine spectator; I spend a couple weeks a year wine tasting in either Australia, California, or France... so a thoughtful & reasonable wine list is much appreciated. Wine is an everyday joy for me and I feel like the owner (who is most often found in the restaurant) teaches me new things each time with his interesting finds. In short, Trattoria Roma delivers a fine dining experience with an enjoyable, non-pretentious feel. And for that they...
Read moreWe made reservations here for my birthday. I love Italian food so much and was really excited because of the great reviews. The atmosphere was really cute and the patio was great too.
Our waiter was really sweet, but to start out they forgot our drinks. We just ordered wine and beer. I had to remind them to get our drinks after we had already finished our bread and most of our appetizer.
We got the bruschetta and the arancini for our appetizer. It was alright. The bruschetta was a little soggy and the arancini wasn’t hot enough. The marinara sauce was ok, but kind of bland.
My husband got the taste of Italy for his entree. The lasagna was pretty good, but the chicken parm was so overcooked and chewy. The alfredo sauce was ok, but again bland and kind of runny. I got the lobster ravioli (which is literally one of my favorite things to get anywhere) and it was not good. The sauce was super bland, and the filling was dry and weird. It was 100% not fresh lobster. It looked like ground up salmon honestly. Just flavorless and had such a strange texture.
We got the brownie to go and it was actually the best part of the whole meal. It was really delicious. I wish the rest of the meal was as good as dessert was……overall there are better Italian restaurants in the area. The food wasn’t anything special and we probably won’t be...
