I hired the Bride Bar for myself and my mom for my wedding day and had a horrible experience. I loved the hair and makeup advertised on their social media and website, but my trial hair was not comparable to their advertising or the picture I provided. I expected better for the $1000+ price tag for 2 people’s hair and makeup. Another trial would cost me another $100, despite the fact that I was not changing anything about what I wanted, but I wanted to be assured my stylist could provide what I asked for initially. I also could not back out of bride bar because of their extensive contract and 90-day no-refund policy (I initially asked for a trial before the no refund period, but they couldn’t provide this with my stylist because they wouldn’t know who was doing my hair until 30 days beforehand). The only time I could have another trial that worked for me and my stylist was 4 days before the wedding, so I decided to hire another stylist from another company and avoid any further undue stress.
The co-owner Kristen DeJohn called me and yelled at me for hiring another stylist (despite still paying them for a service they were not going to be providing). She told me that I was unrealistic to have an expectation of only needing 1 trial and that 3-4 trials was totally normal. She told me that it was also unrealistic for me to expect to know who would be doing my hair 3 months away from my wedding day because they have lives, too. She was angry that I would even ask for a second trial free of cost and asked if I had any other input on how she should run her business. I ended up in tears over this conversation. I’ve never had anyone treat me with so much disrespect. Her tone and volume of her voice were outrageous. I never received an apology. No matter how good my makeup artist Erika was, it would never be worth any other bride going...
Read moreValerie came into my job saying how she was new to the Blowout Bar and she was doing $10 blowouts during her training and made a comment about being good with "ethnic hair" . I never had a blow out so I scheduled immediately because I know how much they usually run and that was a deal. I scheduled on the phone with a guy who told me my appointment was at 3 because I usually get off work at that time on that day.
The appointment date comes and I go in at a little before 3 and they tell me my appointment was at 1:30. I didnt think to check my email because I was told over the phone 3:00. So i check my email and it said 1:30. Then a girl Emily said she wanted to check because a girl whose name was similar to mine was at 3:00. All and all I left out that day without getting a blowout because of their mistake. My anniversary was the next day so my boyfriend called in and talked to someone about what had happened.
They got me in that day for a blowout which I was appreciative of. I go get my blowout and everything was going great. I tipped Valerie 20%. I followed up to see if she was still doing the training and she responded "Well I stayed 3 hours past when I was supposed to get off because you guys begged me to do your hair for your anniversary. You only tipped $2 when my manager told you guys I was staying late and to tip accordingly. I'm sure someone else would like to service you. They are all $40 take care." Which was very rude because that tip was my last and if I knew it was going to be like that I would have never tipped.
Wouldnt recommend to anyone but if you try this place from my experience they give rude remarks if you dont tip accordingly to how they...
Read moreI came in for the first time to get a blowout the day of my engagement photo shoot and was horribly disappointed with the results. The 10 minute scalp massage I paid for was maybe 3 minutes total throughout the duration of my shampoo - if that. I asked for a style mainly with volume and told the stylist my hair doesn't hold a curl and yet she proceeded to use roller curlers in my hair. I was horrified when she spun me around and I saw that the only thing she had done was teased my roots up WAY too high and barely flipped the ends of my long hair.
She actually made a snarky remark about the style being difficult to achieve with thin hair (which I don't have!) and told me I should "twirl the hair with my fingers" up until the photo shoot!? I walked out with less volume than I came in with and only 2 hours to get home and figure out how to re-do my hair on my own prior to my photo shoot that afternoon. I could have done better myself at home with a round brush and hairdryer.
The stylist said maybe 10 words to me the entire visit and acted like she had somewhere better to be. I was asked upon checkout how my visit was and I told them I wasn't thrilled. They asked for payment and gave me a card for half off my next blowout, as if I'd go back. I emailed the same day with pics of my lackluster results taken immediately upon getting home and have received zero reply from management. Do not...
