I am one of the homeowners that foolishly allowed this company to charge me to funnel money through theirs hands only to receive a sub-standard product. I would advise anyone looking for a property management company to run as far and as fast from this company as possible.
We were assured that the tenant being put in our rental home would be properly vetted. The tenant had both a bankruptcy and a foreclosure on her credit. The maintenance company used by NBP gave us an estimate of $600 for a repair that cost us $35 to do ourselves.
Direct quote from the owner of the company, āYou have a good tenant I would hate to see how you handled a normal/regular tenant.ā I offer this review with my tenantās payment record:
Failed to pay the water bill for 9 months and was forced to pay to avoid eviction. Failed to pay the month of February rent and was late with March rent had to be served with a 10 day notice to pay or leave, tenant paid. Failed to pay May and Juneās rent again served with a 10 day notice to pay. Failed to pay. Went to court and reached an agreement to remit past due rents and water bills. Tenant failed to comply with any part of the agreement and was served a 24 hour eviction notice. The tenant paid to avoid being thrown out within 24 hours. This is what NBP considers a āgoodā tenant?
The owner of the company told us that he does not see why we are upset with his company because the tenant has paid in full. She has paid in full but only after legal action was taken and she was facing a 24 hour eviction notice. Additionally, NBP has not yet paid us the back rent owed so that we can use it to pay our house payments that are behind due to this tenantās failure to pay for the last three months (May, June, July). We were told we must wait until August to receive the past due money owed to us.
Per our court order, the tenant is required to be out by August 1. We have requested that NBP contact the tenant to arrange for us to inspect our house so we can prepare for whatever repairs will be needed. We were told by the owner of NBP that NBP will not send their representative to the house to accompany us for an inspection because WE have created a contentious situation. He also states that the tenant is maintaining the property. How does he know that? Why is NBP trying to dissuade us from doing an inspection on our own property? Per our signed contract we have every right to do one as well as having the right to show the property 30 days before the end of the lease.
In our experience, this company has not represented us well. They have made this process extremely stressful and difficult and then...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI rented a condo from NBP for a year and a half and had a wonderful experience. I applied in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic while I was living in Florida. They helped me SO much and made what could have been a disaster, very easy. When i eventually moved back home to MI, everything went smoothly and the condo was as nice as it had been during my virtual tour. During the year and a half I was with NBP, I had to contact maintenance a couple of times and each time they were super nice and sent someone immediately. The people they sent were even nice! Iām not kidding. Unfortunately, I moved out today because I needed a single family home. I wanted to stay with NBP but just couldnāt find the right house in the area I wanted. Inventory is super low right now but believe me, I tried to stay with NBP because starting over with a company I donāt know is a gamble. My career has taken me across the country and Iāve had the opportunity to live in multiple states. I know what a good property management company is and what it isnāt. Believe me when I say NBP is truly wonderful in every way. They didnāt ask me to write this review and I gain nothing from sharing my honest opinion. If other people had such different experiences from the very same group of people I canāt help but ask why. Iām not trying to sound ugly because I know we all go through challenges in life but when we do, we try to rise above them. We cannot blame others. It isnāt fair to bash a company that is operating within its legal parameters when they attempt to collect money that YOU OWE. They were hired to look after the best interests of the property owner. You signed a legal documentā¦a lease! Surely when a tenant fails to pay rent or trashes a property when they leave, that tenant canāt expect ZERP repercussions. If you are reading reviews on NBP trying to make an informed decision, it should be obvious to you which ones are from angry tenants who didnāt hold up their end of the lease and are now upset with NBP for attempting to hold them accountable as they have to answer to the property owners. My opinion is my own. Disgruntled tenants will say I work for NBPā¦.I donāt. Iām a 52 year old nurse who doesnāt often write reviews but I wanted to write an honest review about my experiences. I paid my rent on time each month and left my condo exactly as I did when I lived thereā¦cleanā¦and I was frustrated when I was reading reviews that I thought were unfair and quite...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHORRIBLE, do not rent from them. We stayed in a property ran by them, took over a month to get the oven fixed and now that we moved out we are being charged for things that were that way when we moved in. Iām looking back for my pictures because this is ridiculous. And a lot of this stuff I told Bill about when we viewed the home and he said itās already noted. I knew I shouldnāt have believed him. Iām looking for my photos. This management company is a joke and I was treated so rudely and treat you like a criminal when I called in with an issue. Avoid this company at all cost. Itās absolutely not worth it. I had to deal with a broken oven for a month a racist Neighbor they did nothing about and then they wanna charge me for damages that Bill said were noted. By the looks of things they like to charge you for stuff that other other tenants broke, but they donāt actually fix it and then they charge the next tenant for it too by stating itās noted. Like the light fixture in the utility room that we told Bill was broken In the bathroom, downstairs that ran and was full of iron we went through a ton of bags of salt a month because the water was so bad and would make your skin itch when you go out in the backyard. It smelled like sewage I was charged for toilet paper holder. That was perfectly fine when we left, I was charged for a hook in the ceiling that was already there when we moved in I was charged for a ceiling fan remote that was still in the package left in the closet when we moved in there and we couldnāt program so my daughter just used her desk light Bill was told about that too. Bill also is the one that informed us that the middle sliding glass door did not lock, but we were charged for that as well. We were also charged for a doorstop that was laying on the floor when we moved in and A door in the garage that they said they couldnāt open. We didnāt even have access to that. They told us that part of the garage was off-limits and we werenāt even allowed to go in there. We moved out in May before Motherās Day, and we were charged for the cleanup of the flower beds because they were leafs in them that the neighbor who you share a property with was blowing into our property and it had been raining for a week and a half the guy that I had cut the grass the week before we left couldnāt even mow everything because it was so wet but we were charged over $900 for that.. run do not rent from this company...
