
I was at Planet Fitness in Commerce today and was treated so poorly. This is what happened; my online banking was hacked and had to close all my accounts. If this has ever happened to you then you know what a nightmare it is. The customer service representative Lexi let me know I had a balance on my account. I let her know that I had called Planet Fitness, they have my new account info so I was sure it was fine. The very next day I went in again, Lexi let me know again that I had a balance. I really didnt think I owed because of my call to customer service but I asked her if she could take the payment right now, but she was not able to because its not my home gym. She gave me the 800 number to call. I got busy at work and didnt call. Today when I went in to work out, Brandon was working. He was very rude to me about working out there with this $30 balance on my account. I let Brandon know that there was a mix up when my accounts were closed and I had provided this new info. Also, I did make a payment online last night. He told me there was no payment posted. Then he yelled after me when I was walking to the locker room which was very rude. When I was leaving the gym, Brandon stopped me again, told me he called my home gym and no payment was ever posted. I said okay, I will call them. He said I had lied to him about the payment. Brandon came around the service desk to confront me (during COVID)! Brandon, raising his voice so all the gym members around me were looking, he reminded me that HE would not allow me back into the gym unless the balance was paid. It was the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me. I was humiliated in front of all these people. Never have I missed a payment in all the years I have been going to Planet Fitness. I left this location in tears. You go to a gym to feel better, to chose a healthy way to let go of stress especially during these difficult times. I am in healthcare - some of my days can be sad and stressful. I go to this gym to feel better, only to be humiliated and embarrassed. Not to mention he should NOT have come around the desk like he did. I called the 800 number, I do not have a balance any longer but he was right that the payment did not go through Monday night. Chase did not process this payment due to my accounts, nothing I do online is going through right now.
I later talked to the manager of this franchise, Drew. I told him how inappropriate his employee treated me. I explained that my accounts were closed and now on high alert now due to fraud. He was condescending, telling me he could see my payment was just made, he did not believe me. Drew apologized for Brandon's behavior BUT repeated I did have a balance on my account, implying Brandon's behaviors were warranted because of this mix up on my account.
What happens to all the people struggling financially especially during COVID? Does anyone having a balance get treated this way? I cant help but feel empathy for anyone that will be put through this same embarrassment.

I like that they have separate rooms for stretching, abs, and training. The layout makes it feel less crowded. I upgraded my membership to include the use of the tanning beds, the TBE, and massage chairs. Their tanning beds are nice, and they have (3) options you can choose from. Read moreMember since it opened a year and a half ago. Situated in half of a former Kroger's grocery store, it's massive! There are plenty of machines and free-weights, all new as I mentioned. I have never gone there and not been able to get on a piece of exercise equipment because of overcrowding. The elevated ceilings add to the sense of openness and are much appreciated. The locker rooms have ample space. The vastness of the building is a nice feature.
