My story is probably not all that unusual but it's definitely different the most. Converse animal shelter came into my life when our household finances did not cover our living expenses. It was an odd overlap and doesn't happen all the time but in this instance I was out of work and my mother I've missed 3 weeks of work. Recouping was a hard my mother had a lot on her plate as she was supporting us both. Dog food is running low and I knew that it would be a few days before we had any funds coming into the house. I walked to the converse animal shelter approached the manager and simply asked if there were any types of programs that would help with feed for our dogs. Miss Leah without hesitation walk me to the back and said pick out a few bags you're more than welcome. She stated that as long as the donations were coming in the way they had been that she would be able to help when she could. I was so grateful and very embarrassed really. I asked if I could sign up to donate some time and work with Converse animal shelter. It was one thing I could do to give back since they had taken care of my dogs. Not to mention my mental health along with physical health had been suffering and I was not handling my day to day anxiety well. Converse animal shelter help me socially re-established some connections with good people, beautiful animals, and help me re-establish myself in a way. Also I have a pointer, an older small Chihuahua Lhasa apso mix, and my mother has a Chihuahua miniature poodle mix. My pointer provides a lot for me. Especially in the area of stress Management at this point it was very hard personally, I was going through a lot and the last thing we needed was to get rid of our dogs. The help that we have received from Converse animal shelter has helped my family so much. Now every once in a while I will donate a little time and help the Converse animal shelter. One thing that I can say is they always need bleach LOL and are always helping me in so many ways. If you get the chance stop in check out some of the dogs and cats thankfully they were here for my family and our pets. We are...
Read moreDenied My Refund!!! I adopted an adorbale dog from here which name i will not use but she is a half chow/corgi mix. My boyfriend and I kept her for a month and about the last week we started having problems with her digging up our yard when we let her out. I understood she is an inside dog and let her outside for a good 15 min to not be stuck in the house all day. One day I had enough, the neighbor knocked on my door saying the dog went into her yard and started chasing her cat! Not only that when the neighbor opened the door to let her cat in the dog chased her inside! When my boyfriend went to return the head lady Brenda Carter REFUSED our refund because we didn't show this dog enough love and didn't give her a chance!! This is just a summary but how dare she accuse us of not loving that dog. She had food, water, she slept on my bed, and was a campanion to my daschund mix there are dogs who are living in sh** holes and being abused, I AM NOT A HEARTLESS OWNER. This dog destroyed my backyard the little she was outside. The staff were very nice though, but very unproffesional head...
Read moreI had adopted a cat named Bear here and I instantly fell in love with her only for about a week after I had her she had some issues. I have 2 other cats I’ve had for years and never had issues with them and I ended up having to give her back to the shelter. Upon dropping her off in literal tears they told me “oh if you had contacted us a week ago the vet visit would’ve been on us” why didn’t you state that in the beginning? With any animal it takes time for them to adjust so I assumed the issues she was having were based off of her getting used to her new surroundings. But after 2 weeks I knew something just wasn’t right. I haven’t been able to sleep because I feel so much guilt and I wish I didn’t have to give her back. But I did what I felt was in her best interest. They told me she probably has coccidia which is easily transmittable with cats, they said if that is what she has they would give me medication for my Other cats but it still doesn’t excuse the fact that she had got this from the shelter and I brought her home with the intention of this being her...
