WPDE — Local services in Conway

An outdated news source for MB basically still in the broadcasting era yet to have the sophistication to interface with social media. NOTE their website does not allow for comments at the bottom of any story. Either they don't have the money or the staff or it's actually worse and they are too deep in with the local corruption to really operate as a news station. So what happens when the station manager is the chair of the marketing committee for for the chamber of commerce as was the case for this station in 2011? Well, you have a station that covers only the news the chamber wants out and the spins those stories to support what the chamber is presenting. It also means that stories can come down with a phone call. I am not sure WPDE has ever been taken seriously as a local station but rather the station you look to when you want to know what direction the city is...

South Carolina has been rated as one of the worst states in the nation with regards to political corruption, and our news outlets should be exposing shady dealings in the community. It shouldn't be covering for them and refusing to report on the truth, but what else do you expect when they accept millions of dollars from the very people they should be helping to keep honest? This station, and the people who run it, are allowing elected officials to do whatever they want, and turn a blind eye to it, in exchange for what amounts to public bribery.

Wake up, WPDE, and report on what is worthy of reporting...not just what will keep your masters happy. That's the duty of the medial, and you're failing miserably.
