Party Out the Box — Local services in Conyers

I’ve always been such a huge supporter of this store despite having a bad encounter with the store owner (he is so rude and talks to you like you owe him something...VERY condescending). I have told everyone about how great the store is compared to other local party stores and love shopping at local businesses. However, I will not come back after the last experience I’ve had with the store owner again.

I had a graduation yard sign printed and called to tell them that the ink was leaking in my hands when I picked it up. I thought it was drying and waited a day before calling.

I called the next day and a lady over the phone said they had had many customers calling with the issues they were having with the materials and the ink not being compatible. I found that to be a reasonable explanation and I gave them another shot and got it reprinted. This one was WAY worse. With just some rain, it smeared completely! If it’s a yard sign, it shouldn’t have smeared with the rain.

A few days later, I went back to pick up another order I had and forgot to take the old sign that the owner had requested I bring back so he could take to the manufacturer. Instead of apologizing to me for the inconvenience this brought to me, he made it seemed like it was my duty to return “HIS SIGN”. He ignored me after I mentioned I’d bring it later because I hadn’t been home since I graduated.

My parents decided to finally take both poorly made signs back to show the store owner today. Instead of being met with an apology and a remedy, they were met with the rude store owner accusing them of damaging the yard signs with chemicals other than rain water. He kept talking down to my parents saying that this had been the first time that this had ever happened in 5 years of making these hard signs. I doubt this is the first time that this has happened because I had an employee literally tell me over the phone that it’s happened to MULTIPLE clients.

I’m just appalled and disappointed by this owner’s behavior and poor customer service. I’m such a loyal customer and this just ended any positive referrals I had for this store. I feel for the employees that actually provide great customer service but I hope you don’t run into the store owner that only speaks over you and talks to you...

I’m leaving this review with a heavy heart after a deeply disappointing experience. My husband and loved ones surprised me with a maternity photo gift from this business during my baby shower. It was a meaningful gesture, but unfortunately, the print quality fell far below expectations. The image was supposed to be high-definition, but instead it came out with green streaks in the background and looked distorted.

When I found out where the photo was printed, I visited the store to see if anything could be done. As a returning customer, I expected at least a respectful conversation. Instead, the man behind the counter immediately got defensive and raised his voice, repeatedly insisting “that’s how the machine printed it,” without taking the time to hear my concerns.

I want to point out that I am 39 weeks pregnant and had my toddler with me who was so uncomfortable with the volume of the conversation, he covered his ears. He refused to try anything besides offering a refund, which felt dismissive given the sentimental nature of the gift.

This experience was incredibly disheartening. A little empathy and better customer service would have made all the difference. I truly hope this business takes the time to reflect on how they treat customers especially repeated ones who come in with...

Edit I was so sad when we visited Party Out of the Box this past weekend. I had a great experience last September so I decided to return to see if I could have some balloons special ordered for our daughters party. The employees totally ignored us. I stood at the counter for a good while before the sales associate even acknowledged us. I asked if they had any Minnie Mouse balloons. The guy didn’t even look up and just pointed to a display and said that’s all we got. I asked if they could order some as I was looking for something in particular and he said nope. Sorry. Sadly I ended up just ordering my balloons from Amazon. I don’t think we will go back here. **

Our daughter had a Teddy Bear Picnic party. We could not find balloons to match the theme. I called to see if they carried Teddy Bear Balloons. They did not have any in stock but the awesome owner looked through all of her balloon catalogs and sent me several options and special ordered my daughter's balloons. They were ready and waiting for me on the day of the party! I love supporting local businesses and this one is amazing! Excellent customer service! 100 times better...
