Summary: Instructor Lisa yelled at gym member to get out of class when member couldn't complete an exercise.
Details: On Saturday, May 28, 2022 @ 10:30am, I attended my first strength training class with trainer Lisa. I felt great.
During a series of reps alternating between standing and lying on steps, I became dizzy upon trying to get up from the step and decided to continue lying down. To my surprise, Lisa ran from the front of the class towards me and in anger, and told me that I had to get up and follow her instructions as I was disrupting the class. I was at the very back of the class next to the exit door, and told her that I felt dizzy when I attempted to get up. She repeated her command to me, and returned to the front of the class.
The next exercise portion was to lay on the step. After that exercise was standing again. I felt dizzy trying to stand up again, so I laid on the step. Lisa again ran over to me and yelled at me, advising that I must get out of her class if I can't follow her instructions.
She is neither sympathetic, empathetic or humane in her treatment of class attendees. I was humiliated in front of the class and left the room. I stayed at the gym so I could attend an upcoming Pilates class. While waiting in the lobby, three women from Lisa's strength training class approached me and said they noticed that Lisa was shouting at me and that she does that all the time. "She is just rough," one said.
Another woman exited the class and saw me. This woman and I started talking. She advised that she was unable to do some of the exercises Lisa taught, and decided to step outside the class to do some simpler moves by herself because she didn't want to be "roughed up" by Lisa again.
That's four random women telling me about Lisa's rough behavior.
Other trainers at this gym advise members to do what they can, to modify some of the exercises to a more comfortable degree, or give alternative exercises for members to try based on their comfort level or physical abilities.
Lisa did no such thing. She was rude, impatient, inconsiderate and has no place as a...
Read moreThis gym checks all the boxes for not only serious gym rats, but for newcomers beginning their fitness journeys. You'll always feel welcomed, from the friendly staff, who always greet you with a smile, to the maintenance crew, who work tirelessly to keep the gym in immaculate condition. I would like to add that I go in the mornings, which coincides with the staff and maintenance crew working to keep the place in tip top shape.
The gym has all the equipment, machines, and weights you'll ever need (and then some). From the various classes offered, punching bags, and equipment I can't even name, I've yet to utilize all the amenities in this gym. Receptacle's containing sanitizing wipes are conveniently placed throughout workout areas, and highly utilized by gym goers (a plus, if you are a germaphobe). Small and Large towels are available for free, just make sure to return them in the machine downstairs (or you'll be charged). All the lockers are embedded with 4 turn digit key locks to use if needed. The few times I have used the Sauna, Steam Room, and Whirlpool, I've never had any problem or issues (They have a pool but never went). TV's are placed in various spots, if you’re trying to catch a glimpse of the news or whatever in between your sets (great during the world cup). The various cardio machines have tv and streaming capabilities as well.
Now every gym experiences broken machines from time to time. Normal wear and tear on machines will eventually lead to this, but I personally think the staff generally does an excellent job at expediting the repair process and getting the machines back in operation.
Finally, there are ample options available at the front desk, for your nutritional needs. Yes, they have your bottled preworkouts, protein shakes, and water bottles. But they have also got a menu of custom protein shakes, which they make in the back.
If you are trying to "Avoid" dirty gyms, weights not re-racked, lack of equipment/machine choices, lack of amenities, and an unfriendly staff, look no further...
Read moreUsually I have an amazing experience here but lately it's been lacking in the customer service area. About 2 weekends ago I received a smoothie that I usually get and it tasted different than usual. I didn't make a big deal I asked the gentleman who made if it was made differently and he gave me one of those buy 10 get the 11th free cards and put his initials and a note that state I'd be credited one since I didn't like it and told me next time it would be on the house. He insisted I take it so I did and the next time I presented it to the front desk. The girl at the front desk went back and forth with me about it despite the message until a manager had to intervene. I didn't get loud, disrespectful or call her any names. I was politely explaining to her my situation but she wouldn't honor it until the manager finally ordered her to. Since then her demeanor towards me completely changed, she doesn't greet me, if I sign in she doesn't even check the computer like the other employees usually do to avoid acknowledging me. I got another smoothie one time and she was ignoring me then only stated "5.35" and usually before this incident her and other employees hand me my card back but she now quickly slams it on the counter and does her best to avoid me. Me and a friend held a door open for her yesterday night and she just glares at us and doesn't thank us. She just makes everything tense and doesn't provide me with polite customer service. It's completely fine to not like me but to turn a place that I come into to relieve stress and turn it into a tense high school mean girl enviroment is completely unacceptable to me. It's a shame because I really love this gym but this employee makes it super...
