We used to go to this restaurant often, but lately the food and service has been really terrible. We complained about both the food and the service a number of times and the manager Brian was impolite, defensive and almost threatening. He said if we complained at all he would make sure that we were never be allowed in his restaurant again. We are myself a 52 year old businessman who is well respected in the Food and numerous other industries for software development, my Father a 80 year old man suffering from old age who was successful in many Food Distribution and Automotive Service businesses and his wife who currently suffers from Alzheimer's and can't even taste the food. And she was the Former President of IFMA of NYC, Leader of many Women's organizations for fair wages and treatment in the workplace for Women, and the Senior Director and Facilities Manager for the oldest law firm in Manhattan at the time Hofheimer, Gartler and Gross. When we entered the restaurant this time the manager Brian came over to me and said "do you remember the conversation we had?" And I said to Brian the "food to be honest is not that good, your kitchen is extremely dirty, and your staff is impolite especially you, but as I told you my parents are children of parents that lived through the Depression of 1929 and they do everything they can to save money and live way below their means. However; when you sell ribs on a certain day for $13.50 my parents will eat anything to save money." Brian said "remember if you complain about the food I will make sure you never come to my restaurant again." So my parents and I sat down and ordered drinks, and then our ribs and than Brian called the Police, the Police escorted me outside and told me Brian wants you off the property. Am I angry, no, not at all, but it is a shame that there are managers like Brian working when so many other better qualified people are looking for work.
So if you don't mind that a kitchen is dirty, the staff is impolite, and the food all taste the same (One Flavor), and want to pay a cheap price for a full rack of baby back ribs for $13.50 go there on Wednesday night. This means the restaurant needs to make money and they sell an anchor at cost so maybe you will buy some alcohol --so this is not a place for children because it...
Read moreI worked all Saturday. When I got home I asked my family if they wanted to go out to eat. After we conversed about the type of food we wanted and restaurants that within a reasonable radius from our home, my son recommended we try Tijuana Taxi since it was a restaurant we have never ate at before. So we got in our car and drove 15 minutes down the street to check out this restaurant and see what the hype was all about. We walked through the front door which we did not realize was actually the back door. So we stood there awkwardly and slowly walked toward the hostess desk which was in the back of the restaurant which is actually the front lol. About half way to the hostess desk a polite worker asked if we had been there before and if we knew where to go. We gently replied no an stated we were confused. So she immediately guided us to the hostess desk and assisted us with getting our names written down for the next available table. After a short wait we were escorted to our table with huge menus. We were surprised with all the options we had after reviewing the menu. So we waited for our waiter or waitress so we could ask questions. Then walked up our waitress which was the same employee that greeted us at the door when we walked in confused. She immediately brought us water and asked if there was any special drinks we wanted to order. So we asked about a few drinks we saw on the drink menu. Before I continue we were extremely impressed with how well she knew the menu and what everything consisted of. So after we placed our order and enjoyed some chips and salsa we enjoyed studying all of the cool decor the restaurant had hung up on all of the walls. Before we knew it our food was brought out and here came are waitress ensuring everything came out perfect and if we needed anything else. The food was amazing and the service was like no other. We so grateful to have such an awesome waitress that really knew the restaurant and was able to recommend entrees that we would enjoy. Our waitress name was Sara and I believe her last name may have started with an M according to our receipt. But we will definitely be coming back to this restaurant and can not wait to try more...
Read moreI honestly went back and forth on whether I should leave a review, but these restaurants are getting out of hand, and people deserve to know what they’re walking into. I’ve been coming here on and off for about four years. I don’t eat out often usually only when I’m really craving something. Back in my hometown, there’s an amazing authentic spot that makes the best chimichangas. Ever since I moved to this area, I’ve been trying to find something similar. This place was the closest in flavor, which is why I kept giving it a chance. Now, I’m used to chimichangas coming topped with lettuce and tomatoes. That’s how I like it, and I know shredded lettuce doesn’t hold up well inside a hot wrap, so I ordered it on the side even though it was a $4 upcharge. When I got my to-go order and took a bite, I thought they just forgot the lettuce completely until later due to it being a small amount that shriveled up from being warmed. I went back inside to let the waitress know that I didn’t receive my side of lettuce. Keep in mind, this was after work and I was already tired, with other things to do. Then someone else comes out and tells me they put the lettuce inside the chimichanga. I explained that I looked inside and didn’t see any, and that I had asked for it on the side. We went back and forth, and then he tells me to bring the food back in. At that point, I was exhausted and just wanted to go home. The most frustrating part wasn’t even the lettuce it was the patronizing. In the restaurant industry, too often people won’t own up to a simple mistake. Instead, they argue, dismiss you, or worse. After the way the situation was handled, I didn’t feel comfortable taking the food back and risking them doing something to it. It’s incredibly disappointing to spend $40 and still have to go home and fix your own food over. All they had to do was give me the lettuce when I asked that I had to pay extra for. Such a simple thing turned into an unnecessary hassle, and it honestly ruined the whole experience for me. Will not be back and will not...
