TLDR: Horrible experience, extremely unlikely to give them any future business.
We started our adventure towards the end of May, with the simple goal of purchasing a storm door and having it professionally installed. The initial conversation was promising: we spoke to the door/window department and set up having their contractor reach out to us for taking measurements. After measurements were taken, it took an extended time to get a quote, and I noted a "difficult location" fee. I was told it was because the contractors would have to go up more than one step; very few home exterior doors have less than a one step approach ! I was able to get that charge discounted, but only because I questioned it. I then had to go back to the store again to sign paperwork and place the order. I was told that the next step would be the contractors contacting me once the door came in. After contacting a store representative twice after I hadn't heard anything in a reasonable time, the door finally arrived. I was told it was in good shape, and I'd hear from the contractors. Several days went by...and then I had to reach out to the store again. I finally got a call from the contractor's for scheduling and set it up. The morning of install day, a day I had used PTO for, I got a call that the contractors opened the door and found a few scratches. My options were to continue with install of a defective product (????) or they could reorder the door. Having had so much difficulty simply getting to that point, I requested to cancel the entire order and be fully refunded. The store representative said she'd see what she could do. Later in the day, I received a call from who I believe is the department manager, and she told me that the door seemed to be fine (????). Ultimately, we worked out an arrangement to have a replacement door ordered (because there was uncertainty about the actual condition of the door), and to cancel the install. I again had to follow-up with the store to find out if it was in or not. When we picked it up, the customer service representatives left a lot to be desired as well. The two females working were both in mid-drift showing tighter shirts, and the first one we encountered seemed very flustered and improperly/insufficiently trained to do her job.
My partner and I are more than capable of installing a storm door. We simply attempted to use Home Depot's installation options to help us check one more item off of our home improvement list, because our time is valuable. We will be spending a few hours this weekend installing the door - what we apparently should have done to begin with. A few hour long project has turned into a two month ordeal. Really...
Read moreDos and Don't of buying appliances at Home Depot. 1. DON"T 2. If you choose to be aware that if you live in a home with copper pipes (even perfectly good not corroded copper pipes.) Home Depot will NOT install your appliance and you will have to wait for a plumber. They will not care that you were inconvenienced because you've already waited a week for delivery and cleared your day. They will be at your house 2 minutes before realizing you have copper pipes and they will leave your appliance there uninstalled telling you a plumber will contact you in 2-3 business days 3. When this happens DO NOT try to call HD because no matter how many people you talk to none of them will care once they have your money. 4. Be sure and get your sales reps name because it may not be on the receipt if he "has to go to another register'' If you do find your sales rep (John) he will claim he knew nothing about copper and the the older sales gentleman who said he has worked for HD for decades will back him up saying "I've never heard anything about copper pipes" even though you can literally google and see people putting things on the internet about it since at least 2020 so it doesn't sound like they were being honest. 4.Don't call the manager (Beth) because she will act just as surprised that NEITHER of her sales people knew about the copper pipes situation. She is gonna go over with them. (yeah right) 5.Don't look on the installation checklist or anywhere on the HD site about copper pipes because it is no where on there. 5. Be aware when the plumber shows up he will not be friendly at all and when you ask if he is an independent contractor he will say "Yes but this is too far out for me." 6. Be sure your sales rep goes over your receipt in the store because it does not matter how good of a deal you've found you will pay well over $300 to get it installed and every little thing they ding you for on installation they tax. I thought I found a deal and $50.00 off with signing up for a HD card for a Bosch dishwasher for $749.00 but somehow that turned into $1175.91. Your sales person will use creative math to explain it but your receipt will make no sense. Bottom line just be aware they are catering more to builders now and your little dishwasher or refrigerator purchase means nothing to them and they will treat you accordingly.
Update- week before Thanksgiving....Had Bosch dishwasher 6 weeks and it won't drain. HD appliance guy could not tell me where the info on the 1 year warranty was and then hung up on me. Don't buy...
Read moreIn the last 10 years I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars at this store. We have remodeled literally an entire house, and are starting on two more. If there would have been any comparable home improvement store nearby, they would have gotten 100% of my business. The employees at this store are the absolute worst at customer service. I have personally walked up to several different groups of employees, casually chatting, and I ask them for assistance finding something, only for them to barely assist, all while acting like it is the biggest inconvenience for them to even acknowledge that a customer might need something. I would rather shop elsewhere, strictly based on the employees general lack of interest in assisting customers.
Now onto the the next biggest complaint, which is the horrible lumber selection. It is impossible to find decent wood in this store. I have been to all of the major chains, and every single one beats Home Depot. This store is no different.
This stores employees have given it a terrible reputation, that they live up to,...
