I visited this store on saturday, february 10th with a friend. Neither of us had ever been there and we were very excited to check it out. The store is beautiful and had so many interesting things. We spent almost 2 hours there looking through old postcards, reading them and overall enjoying our experience. Since the credit card minimum was $15 we picked out multiple things to make sure to we exceeded that limit. We went to check out and that is when the fun came to a halt.
I had found about 8 post cards I wanted, among other things. The moment the woman started looking at my items she said "well this one doesn't have a price on it so I can't sell it to you." I thought for sure she would help me find the price, offer some kind of apology but no. She flipped through the rest of the cards saying "nope, can't sell this, can't sell this, nope, not this one either" All in a rude condescending tone, as if it was a joke to her. I had found one card I was SO excited about and of course she said "nope, can't sell you that, no price on it."
I thought surely, this is a STORE and they wanted to SELL things, so I said "I will pay whatever you want, I just really love this one card". She dismissed me, and swiftly handed all my cards to a man standing nearby, saying "take this away, put them in the lost and found". I could not believe she was flat out refusing to sell me things that had been sitting on the floor, not for any price. I thought this was a business? This made no sense to me. I asked, "can I just go get the box where I found them and see if the box has a price per card?" "NO" she said, " I don't know where it came from and I can't sell it". I then began walking to the back of the store to find the box to check for any kind of pricing. She YELLED at me, in front of many other customers, "NO, I AM NOT SELLING THEM TO YOU!" It was so aggressive. I was embarrassed, confused and so upset.
I waked up back to the front and my friend and I left the rest of our items a t the counter, deciding not to buy anything. We took a business card, called back later and asked to speak top a manager. The woman who answered the phone seemed to be the same woman that was at the register. She said "The manager isn't here call back later, bye" and hung up. Appalling. This store is too beautiful to have such ugly staff. It seems as if she enjoys refusing sales to people. I read through google reviews and it seems my experience is not unique. I hope the owner and the booth owners know that this woman is single-handedly losing...
Read moreWe've shopped here many times over the last few years, but today will be the last time. We got there a little after 5pm knowing the store closed at 6pm. We quickly browsed through the store, finding a few things along the way. At 5:25pm they started their closing announcements. That's cool, still have 35 minutes left to shop, so we picked up the pace. At 5:40 they made another announcement saying they were closing in 15 minutes. I started making my way towards the front of the store to checkout. There were a couple of people already in front of me so I thought I was good. It was 5:50pm...10 minutes until the posted 6pm close time. The lady who checked me out called me over and rudely told me that "we're already closed so I don't have to sell you these things. That's why we make the announcement at 5:45." I was appalled. Such a rude way to greet a customer, who for all they knew was a new customer!!! I worked in retail for MANY years and wow, I would never have dreamed to have treated a customer as rudely as I was treated today. Not only was I shocked but I was embarrassed. I don't like being called out in public, and for an employee to do that to a customer who is merely checking out and paying for their items 10 minutes before closing time... Just wow. "Well, I don't have to buy these things," I said once I regained my ability to speak. "Oh, I know!" The lady said. I went ahead and paid because I did actually want the items.
They shut off the lights at 5:55pm and immediately locked the door behind us. We got to our car and it hadn't even turned 6pm yet.
The worst customer service experience I've ever experienced. We won't be returning. There's plenty of other cordially staffed antique stores...
Read moreDidn't know this mall was in Creve Coeur, but I do now, and lordy, we will be back for sure. I was kinda hesitant after reading the reviews, but I'm glad I checked it out myself. I'm not sure why people find it necessary to give a bad review to this mall, I'm here to tell you they are totally incorrect. Now you might think how can I state that their reviews are wrong, well one I'm a vendor at a mall, a collector and travel the United States visiting all kinds of malls, antiques stores as a courtesy to everyone who wants to know the truth! I give honest reviews and ensure I don't harm someone's business for spite. With that said, just walked on the ladies were warm and welcoming to us. Not 4 booths in we started find treasures. I collect Mid-Century Modern and more, and my brother collects clocks, radios, compasses, and Marilyn Monroe. Each aisle is labeled with a name, which makes it really easy to remember where you might have found a treasure and want to go back to get it Their vendors are so organized, clean, and reasonably priced. The selection is off the charts, really there is something for everyone for sure. If you are looking for rare treasures and hard to find radios, stereos, clocks, albums, figurines, kids' toys, quilts, and two rooms full of furniture to boot, Mid-Century Modern, and did I forget to mention it's right off the highway about a mile or so in a plaza off Fee Fee road. So trust me, this is a fabulous place to stop in and shop along with very helpful staff. Thanks, ladies. enjoyed our visit, and we will definitely...
