It puzzles me why a business would ever turn away a customer for a service they specialize in simply because of protocol. Not only did they turn away the sale but the customer as well.
I purchased a pair of key blanks for my motorcycle online because ACE does not carry the BMW OE "Neiman" blanks in their stores. There was nothing special about these keys; no security chips or unusual configurations, just a basic two sided cut. However, when asked if ACE would cut a key on a customer blank, the service individual, while standing in front of two beautiful key cutting machines, flat out said ACE does not cut keys on customer blanks. He would not even look at them. I offed to pay the cost of purchasing their blanks! Nope, wouldn't do it.
I left ACE a little frustrated and drove to a competitor who with a smile gladly cut the keys (on the same type equipment) and took my money.
Perhaps I did not do a lot of shopping at ACE before but now I have no use for them what so ever and would gladly advise others to do the same. Cutting Keys may be a little thing to ACE but it is a big thing to me and I may just remind them when I go shopping for a new lawnmower and chainsaw...
Read moreI was a local home owner in Cary, IL and I always went to Ziegler's Ace before the big box stores and I was always impressed by their courteous and knowledgeable staff. Given the high level of customer service and satisfaction I experienced, I didn't think it could be topped until I had bought a Weber grill from this location. Not only did I receive the customer attention and service I had come to expect at this store but about a week or so later, I received a letter in the mail from David Ziegler himself thanking me for thinking of Ace to purchase my grill when he knew there are plenty of other places I could have shopped for this particular model. The letter was personalized to me, hand written, and signed (blue ink; not printed in any aspect) which included David's business card.

Read moreI went in to have a key made. I stood by the area where they mane the keys at the back of the store. No one was there. 2 other customers walked up so 3 of us were waiting. Since I was the first one in line the others said they were going to look for someone to help. I actually called the store from my cellphone to ask if they could send someone to the counter in the back because there were 3 customers waiting to be helped. Not great service.
