Exotic Birds By Fran — Local services in Cypress

I adore my lovebird I recently got here. But unfortunately I took him in for a grooming recently and there was a young man there who did it terribly and it was an absolutely traumatizing experience for the bird especially, but also for me.

First of all he could not hold the bird correctly and it flew to the floor where he also couldn't retrieve it for quite some time. When he finally got it back and started he kept saying how "oh this is such a difficult bird" even though he had clipped a nail too short to the point where it was bleeding. I didn't even realize what was happening, as I heard a bird screaming, and it took me about a full minute to realize it was MY bird!

He was holding his head forcefully in the towel and I was begging them to stop. There was another woman there, maybe a manager I don't know but it wasn't Fran. Anyways she completely ignored me and went to the back to get away from the whole situation. I was appalled, but (to my absolute shame) I stayed silent from then until the end. When I got my bleeding bird home he couldn't perch because of the injury to his feet. Also his beak was a mess and I feel absolutely horrible about it, because the screaming was happening when his beak was being filed! The tip of the top beak is the most sensitive part of it.

This young man has no idea what he's doing and I suggest you don't let ANYone but Fran handle your bird, if you care about its welfare at all. I am so disappointed in a place about which I had heard so many good things! This is a disgrace. I was speechless and to the point of crying when I left but I wish I could go back in time and that I had had the courage to speak up THEN! This place is alright as bird stores around here go, but DON'T LET ANYONE BUT FRAN HANDLE YOUR BIRD. I also wish I got this young man's name. I will learn it and have my husband include it in a review he will leave after our next grooming. I know it will be better, as Fran handles the birds very well. The public deserves to know what they're in for when they bring in their helpless birds to get groomed. And our birds don't deserve the kind of mutilation mine had to endure! He is still healing and this happened...

I love this place and wonderful staff including of course Fran the owner I have an Umbrella Cockatoo Named Angel and I get all my food from them and also difficult grooming when he wont let me do so. I once had an incident in which Angel now 18 years Old August 18th had an issue a few years ago in which he being in which he challenges things to chew and he unfortunately went against some metal in which cut his tongue I was so distraught being I did not have the means to stop the bleeding. I immediately took him to a local pet hospital and the were to afraid to approach his beak and tongue and said if he bit them there is nothing left to fix on the wound they may get from his bite. They were to scared to help me. I then thought to go see Fran and her team in which are true bird pros. Fran and her co worker at the time helped me and Angel and stopped the bleeding and saved him. I am forever grateful! Please take my advice and if you ever want to get a wonderful pet bird or need grooming, feed, toys etc. Go see Fran and her team and tell them Robert Finger sent you so they know I am helping them as well and forever grateful for saving Angel! Experts in their handling of parrots and their diets. They have supplies in the event there's ever an emergency, e.g. broken blood feather and have contact with a multitude of aviary vets; I've heard the craziest of stories of what their contacts have done.

A MASSIVE selection of toys and hands on time with a potential new friend as well. I'd recommend coming mid day and during the week as the weekend gets hectic (thanks to the swap meet) and they put the birds to rest rather early.
