01/28/22: Chair is still broken. Filed a claim with the BBB and the VA AG, the store never responded. They've essentially voided my warranty. They're racist, entitled scammers, who think they can do no wrong. Hope they go out of business so can't scam anyone else.
Absolute garbage. Sales people were taking personal phone calls while on the floor. Was told no price was final only to choose a chair and find out that prices were actually fixed. Ordered it anyway and was told 2-3 weeks. More than a month passes without word so I call Woodbridge location (where I ordered) and was directed to the warehouse who told me "next Friday". Next Friday comes and I received no word about confirmation nor a time so I call Woodbridge location once again and am told that I am "not on the schedule for delivery" and that he will call me back once he checks with the warehouse. After an hour and no call back I call the Woodbridge location AGAIN and am told that he did get in contact with the warehouse but the chair had just arrived at the warehouse today and I that I will actually be receiving the chair in mid-October. I ask to speak to manager (how Karen of me, I know) and am told he's not in. Considering I shelled out nearly $800 and the money was taken immediately from my account but they can take their sweet time getting my merchandise to me is interesting as it is frustrating and if I have not received word in the next week, I will be asking for a refund and taking my business elsewhere. I'll be sure to listen to my gut next time.
UPDATE 09/2020:
Received my chair after receiving a call to take down my review which I don't even know if that's allowed; I did not lie. I've had the chair for about three months and it's broken already. The wheels at the bottom of the chair do not seem to be made for the chair, (they are maybe 1.5" in diameter and the chair is probably five feet wide) and evidently cannot hold the weight of the chair and an adult, the wood framing on the bottom is splintering and the piece that once held the wheel is floating around inside the lining of the chair. Now the chair leans and can no longer swivel without scuffing the floor.
I tried calling today to get information about my warranty and received their voicemail about six times and a message saying their voicemail box was full before someone answered. At first the woman on the phone told me to come in and someone would email me to which I asked why I needed to come in (especially during COVID) to get an email she said okay and took down my number and said I was in the system before transferring me, the phone rang maybe four times before going to voicemail and once again playing the message that their mailbox was full. I tried calling back twice more to inform her but received no answer.
Their customer service is horrible which may be something to let slide if the quality of their product was acceptable. Falling apart after three months of normal use for a leisure chair is hardly what I would describe as good quality.
Buyer beware.
UPDATE 04/19:
Purchased chair in August 2020. Chair is still not fixed. I was given the run-around for weeks waiting for them to contact the manufacturer until they finally told me to contact my warranty. I did. Only for them to reject my claim and instruct me to contact my retailer and file a claim with the manufacturer. 🙃
If it was possible I would return this chair and save myself the headache.
UPDATE 04/25:
I called the store once again. They told me that the warranty people LIED and implied that I was stupid for believing. He told me that the manufacturer denied my claim, which would have been nice to know, oh, say a month ago. He berated me for this review and told me that I was a liar and that my review is hurting his business. He offered to fix my chair on his own time but I had to bring it to him. I said I couldn't (I have a sedan, if I could move the chair myself I wouldn't have paid that $70 for it to be delivered) I asked for my money back and he said "no, look at the...
Read moreI bought a three piece bedroom set for about $1300. I am currently putting it together so far the quality is the same as the floor model. The only thing I don't appreciate is the miscommunication between the sales department and delivery. I ordered the Amazon delivery like drop off where I was told the furniture will be dropped off at my door and I will put it together. I said fine then I was asked if my apartment was on the ground floor. I even showed them a picture of the front of my building to show if they come through the front they will have to take 3 flights of stairs however if they come through the back its a straight path to my ground floor entrance. I repeated these instructions to the operator the day before the delivery. I was told they will make a note and I should also reiterate to the delivery guys day of. I said the same instruction to the delivery guys to come through the back and to pass me the furniture over the door threshold. I will place it where it needs to go. I did not ask them to come into my home or put anything together just place at the threshold. I was told that's not how they work and that's not what they were paid to do. They were there to do a drop off to the front of my building in my "lobby". I explained I have no lobby to speak of and an amazon delivery in my complex to the front door only. He told he was going to drop it off at the front of the building. I told him will refuse the delivery if he does that. I have never heard of a company dropping off furniture in front of a building that is not a porch or the designated apartment front office. Eventually the delivery went as I originally intended however, I do not appreciate being fussed at especially when I gave specific instruction twice in efforts have the delivery crew avoid taking stairs that would make the job more complicated. He claims that's what they do when the delivery is labeled "outside". Watch where they try to drop the stuff off. In all honesty, I've never experienced this for an at...
Read moreAVOID! First of all they were very misleading in the store with their free financing claims. It wasn’t until after I had already signed and given them the deposit that I was told they could only do 12 months of financing (when their posters and advertisements say 60 months). I purchased the furniture set anyway because I had my heart set on it. Second of all, I was told that I would receive a phone call within 10 business days about scheduling a delivery. I never received that call until I called them and got passed around to numerous people. Weeks later I was FINALLY to get in touch with someone to schedule delivery. I ordered this furniture in January and did not receive it until April. When my furniture arrived THREE MONTHS LATER. I was missing a night stand and the delivery men seemed to be totally clueless. So I had to again try to reach their horrible customer service to explain that I did not receive a piece of furniture. About a month later I received my missing night stand (which I had to take off work for a second day for delivery). The final straw after I had already told all my friends and family to never get furniture from overstock was: I was scrolling through my financing statements and I noticed that I had been charged an extra $215!!!! This company tried to STEAL over two hundred dollars from me. And if I hadn’t realized it and called them to correct it then they would have gotten away with it. Those of you who financed your furniture with this company, you better go back and check that your receipt matches what they charged you. Luckily, for the first time ever, this financial matter was handled with one phone call. Although the furniture is nice and the price was right it’s DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT. It took so much time, energy and effort to actually get my furniture and on top of that they double charged my account. No thanks, look...
