Nordstrom Rack — Local services in Dale City

I’ve noticed some positive changes at this Nordstrom Rack location—more merchandise and a cleaner layout. However, the customer service during my recent visit was really disappointing.

I had an uncomfortable and awkward interaction with the cashier (an Indian guy working around 7 PM). He rang the bell but didn’t say anything—no “Next,” no greeting, just stood there silently. I wasn’t even sure if he was calling me. He rang it again, looked directly at me, and still said nothing. It felt rude and dismissive right from the start.

At the register, he asked if I had an account. I said no. Then I noticed I wasn’t getting a discount I expected, and he said it only applied to members. So I said, “my phone number work?,” and gave him my phone number. He checked and confirmed, “You have an account.” But right after that, he looked at me and said, “Phone number,” again—without any context.

I thought he was just clarifying what he meant earlier. He repeated “Phone number,” looking at me like I was an idiot, because he was apparently asking me to repeat it. So I gave him the number again, and we completed the transaction.

Just the whole interaction was awkward, and lacking even basic courtesy. A simple “Hello” or clear explanation would’ve made a big difference. The store might look better, but service like this makes the shopping experience bad and not want to come to store. Ruins the...

Liza at the register is AMAZING! ❤️ Went to the store after having had my credit card application flagged for in person verification and drove over 2 hours from Midlothian, VA to get here in traffic and first spoke with another associate at the register that presented me with difficulty trying to get verified. Was told over 3 times that they do not do this here but then Lisa overheard and took over and called the customer service line to get me verified with no push back whatsoever. Wasn't seeing any special finds or labels on the clothes racks for women. A lot of inventory with not much diversity in selections or labels. For example rows of basic cardigans or t-shirts. Prices were really high on items I wouldn't expect, like $50 for dress pants that were just basic and a label I've never heard of. I didn't have time to look at accessories or other departments, so the store might have more to offer but I was hoping to be more excited by the clothes. The store itself is very organized...
