SAFETY REVIEW
It’s unfortunate that I have to leave this review, especially since we’ve been here before, and the kids used to have a good time. However, our last visit revealed a serious lack of safety training and protocols, particularly in the obstacle course area.
My daughter, who has successfully completed the column wall obstacle several times, was let loose halfway down on her descent. This resulted in her falling from at least a 5FT height, landing feet first, then on her bottom, bumping her head again one of the poles.
The employee’s first reaction was not to ensure her well-being but to ask, “You pulled the rope, right?” Meanwhile, my daughter was in shock, scared, and complaining that her hands were burning. This was just the beginning of several issues we encountered:
•The employee claimed that this could happen if the rope was pulled, but when I asked if the kids were given proper instructions, she admitted, “That’s my bad, that’s on me.”
•They didn’t know how to proceed after she got hurt or how to treat her. They couldn’t let us the check the cameras to see exactly what happened because they had no replay.
•The employee (Amara) gave us consistent attitude, despite us being calm and trying to handle the situation.
•When we requested a first aid kit, we were initially brushed off, and when we finally saw it, it was incomplete (only bandaids, wraps, and alcohol wipes).
•The employee showed no concern for my daughter or our worries.
•They were unsure how to do an incident report and suggested we just leave a review.
•Overwhelmed with the lack of seriousness/training, I asked to speak with a manager, which didn’t seem easy for them to arrange. At this point we were already being very patient and polite with all the staff when internally we couldn’t stop worrying.
Resolution: We were refunded after we asked, given that our kids barely played since this incident happened early in our visit. An incident report was filed, but they couldn’t provide me with a copy and promised to email it, which I have yet to receive. I also haven’t heard back from the managers regarding the incident.
Consequence: I took my daughter to urgent care because she continued to express pain. She was diagnosed with a sprained ankle, skin burns on her hands, and a fractured rib.
It didn’t seem like any actions were taken regarding the employee, and it didn’t seem to be her first.
For the safety of all the kids, I truly hope they work on re-training employees and re-evaluating the retention of some current staff, as some clearly lack basic customer care. Place has great potential, if they care to make it work and ensure kids and family safety...
Read moreDear admin staff,
I am very disappointed after our party at Zava Zone Woodbridge, VA.
The kids had a lot of fun playing but sadly the pizzas and sodas we had ordered were not delivered in the correct quantity. When I went to notify the front desk (as told by the party host) they eventually got the manager, who looking at the orders online said it was the pizza delivery's error, but they should have checked instead they were just double checking and trying to figure out whose error it was, wasting time... they did not solve anything!!!! horrible problem solving or even looking to take some initiative. I asked them to call the pizza place and demand the extra pizzas, but nothing was being done. We decided to solve the problem and my husband ran to buy more pizza. Not only were the extra pizzas missing but also the soda, the host left the room and I had to serve the soda that we had but, of course, we ran out. The kids were hungry and thirsty for a long time. No one to help around. I had to leave the room again to ask for water or something all the way down to reception.
Eventually, the supervisor came up and apologized and agreed to give us the drinks. Which again, I got to serve, same with cake and cupcakes, our host was more worried about giving the check. It was a disaster!!!
An apology is not enough in this situation, I believe we should be compensated for the huge inconvenience and embarrassment.
We paid and even tipped the host as I really was too upset to argue but it was totally unacceptable. They charge so much and mess up the only thing they had to actually do.
Oh, and I had ordered a gluten free pizza (which was delivered) for the birthday boy, but the host served him a regular slice which also is a huge mistake that should not have happened. Allergies need to be taken seriously!!!
Needless to say it was stressful and embarassing with the parents, sad for the kids who didn't get any pizza and had to watch others eating, I was just trying to do what I could.
The negligence not to check if the number of pizzas ordered was correct and the lack of help or customer service to alleviate the problem in any way was just stunning.
In addition, no discount or accountability in any way!!!
As if it was a big deal they mentioned I was not being charged for the extra pizzas (how dare would it be to charge for something that was not even delivered), they complimented the beverages (one thing right)... and that is...
Read moreWe had our boys' birthday party at ZavaZone and all the kids had a blast! We wanted to try a new place and this did not disappoint. We loved that there were lots of different things for the kids to do, not just trampolines. The kids loved the climbing things and the staff was helpful with securing the harnesses and helping. I will note the high ropes course has a height requirement which I did not see online. The staff at least helped the birthday boys on it as they were not tall enough, they needed assistance to hook their harness to the next rope. The little kid area was a bonus for our 1 and a half year old to play in while the big kids ran around with the other things. Booking the party online was very easy and I found the prices to be comparable to other places. The area was clean and tidy. There is only one direction for the kids to go in the building so I thought that was helpful to keep track of where the kids are. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and our party host, Caden, was awesome! He was very attentive, polite, and engaged with the kids during the party. He had everything we needed for the party room and actually helped me set up a few decorations before the guests arrived.
Unfortunately, the pizzas that were part of our party package were not ordered on time which caused a delay in the kids eating. We improvised and had cake first which of course the kids didn't mind but the pizza delay extended past our scheduled party time and some of the kids left before it arrived. We understand things happen and this was not at the fault of our party host! I'd just suggest the staff communicates better and maybe sets reminders of when to order the pizzas so they are ready on time. It was unfortunate too because our party was on a Sunday early evening and it wasn't very busy. The staff did discount our party (on top of the military discount) and was apologetic so we appreciated that! My only other concern is the difference in the name on the building vs what is in google maps and their website. We advertised on our invitations as Healthy Fun One (with the address) but when arriving to the location, it says Zava Zone. I think this confused some of our guests. Other than those few things we had a really great time and will definitely be...
