Cavender's Boot City — Local services in Dallas

So my story is just an unfortunate occurrence, but I do unfortunately think it’s representative of the average Joe’s experience. I think the selection is actually quite decent for western gear, not overwhelming or as incredible as I’ve heard NRS is, but there’s some variety. That being said DO NOT ignore the complaints I and others have made about the staff. If you’re new to Cowboy hat or boot sizing, you might need a hand with understanding how things should feel for use. The staff seem to actively avoid you and when you do ask them for help, they end up not being able to tell you anything. Just saying “does it feel comfortable?” Is not the kind of advice I expect from someone who works at this store. A relatively small store with 4 people working in it and the same number of customers should be giving over the top service and that’s just not the case. The boots I had bought were a bit tight and when I came in the next day with barely any wear on the boots (less than an hour of walking) they refused to accept an exchange for a half size larger boot. These are the same people that told me that I could try them and return/exchange them as long as they weren’t excessively work a day prior to me making the return. One day and 30 min of use is enough to have them not accept the Return/Exchange. I wasn't asking for cash back from the return or special treatment, i just wanted boots that were comfortable and that should've been easy for a shoe warehouse when the boots were not even noticeably worn. It's a shame really, and now I will have to look elsewhere or online and take the loss on the boots i purchased from Cavenders. I have never disappointed in this store before until today. Went today for boots for my youngest child and jeans for my oldest child.

First of all, they hardly had any selection for my youngest daughter in boots. Now if she wanted dress boots then that was fine, but we are a farm family and rodeo. Pink glitter isn’t going to last long around this family.

Second, my oldest daughter wears ladies jeans. Now the certain jeans she likes are hard to find, but I’ve always found them at cavenders. We couldn’t find any this time, but it not what disappointed me. When she found a pair she thought she would like she walked into the dressing room and on the floor was about 15 pairs of jeans and then there was about 10 pair hanging up. I went through all the jeans to see if maybe a pair she usually wore was on the floor.

I thought it was kinda crazy that I saw sale associates waking around, standing at the hat corner talking to co-workers, and then standing at the front but not one person asked us if they could help us. Instead, I walked out with two cowboy hats (totally not planned for that buy) and a belt, which I returned for smaller size and then just returned due to my husband not liking the belt itself.

Overall, my experience has kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, I drove 2 hours after work to get these things. I would totally recommend this store to any man because there was TONS of men’s clothing out. I don’t usually shop women’s clothing here due to mostly needing women’s long sleeve button down shirts (I’ve never seen rodeo attire shirts for women at this location). TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was looking for a hat, and asked for a specific size. I think her name was Jessica, looked for 2 seconds for a hat with me and then stopped helping me. Didn’t really seem like she cared at all. Then I drove to Mesquite and bought a hat that was my size later in the day. After buying it two hours before, I decided I wasn’t a fan and returned it. I went to this location because it was closer to home.

They said “we can’t return it” because the receipt didn’t match the hat or some story they tried telling me. So I had to have the mesquite store call and say that they have to accept my return. Also had to drive back and forth twice and argue with the manager(s) including Jessica who was there when I had gone earlier and barely even helped me. Both of the girls had terrible attitudes.
