One Man Show!!
Rob is the man to go to for a haircut in Dallas... After holding off on finding a barber in Dallas, I finally decided to let Yelp guide my decision. While there are multiple barbers/salons that are rated high, Rob's Chop Shop stood out because most (if not all) reviewers vouched that Rob was their go to guy. Plus, his shop was voted on the top in D Magazine/other voting articles. So, I second the statement that other reviewers have made, and while I am in Dallas, I will return to Rob for a haircut.
His shop is located on Parry Ave. For people driving, you can park on 1st/2nd Ave or Exposition. I recommend calling in and making an appointment early as I mentioned he is one barber and caters to one client at a time. Also note that it is a Gentleman's establishment (no funky business in here, just a male sanctuary where you can have a beer, kick back, get a haircut, and have some guy chat) so please respect the protocol. As I mentioned, he offers you free beer/water while you wait/get a haircut and indulges in some great conversation. The shop is vintage/classy and Rob has his own line of hair/beard products.
Now on to the cut, I told Rob what I wanted and he went to work. Almost 60 minutes for my cut, Rob was meticulous and precise and his experience was apparent. A warm shaving cream and straight razor trim ended the cut followed by a quick massage of the shoulders and neck (hand held massager which does its job well too). He used beard oil and an aftershave and I was done with a perfect cut that received a lot of compliments...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI moved to Dallas for work this summer and needed to find a barber to keep up a professional look. I came across an article listing Rob as one of the best barbers in Dallas, booked a haircut, and havenāt looked back. I canāt recommend him highly enough- the quality and experience are far and above the price you pay. In the 25+ years that heās been cutting hair, before the advent of people reading reviews on social media like you are now, a barber had to āshow upā for every client in the chair and Rob does exactly that, every time.
Iāve struggled to find products that work for my hair for years due to the texture, and on a whim, Rob suggested the perfect product that is now my go-to. I really enjoyed Reuzel products (which he also carries) but I trusted him on the Anchors Aweigh product and the trust has always paid off.
All of this is not even mentioning the great conversations along the way and tips about the city for a newcomer like me. When I moved here, I considered Rob a great barber. Now that Iām moving again, I like to think of him as more of a friend & a great highlight of my time in Dallas. Find some time to sit back and trust Rob with your style and I think youāll have the same quality of experience. Tip well (for the decades of experience, not just the minutes in the chair) and be sure to say hi to Betty, the shop cat, while...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen going to Rob off and on (but mostly on) since 2010. The second I set foot in there for the first time I knew it was going to be good, and it was. Said I wanted an older style cut, which I knew he specialized in, and I was not disappointed. The first friend who saw me after I got that haircut said, āYou like a hardass, I love it.ā Rob cut my hair til I moved to NYC, then I went to Tomcats up there (RIP), but if I was in town and needed a cut I went to Rob. Sometimes I purposely waited til I was going to visit Texas next so I could go to Robās. I ended up moving back to Dallas and started going again. Then I moved to Richardson, and made the mistake of trying out other places. I was always sorely disappointed afterwards and always thought, āI should have just made the drive.ā I quickly saw the error of my ways and stopped deviating from the best barber in town, and probably the world. He doesnāt know it (maybe he will now), but he cut my hair before my wedding and it was absolutely perfect, as usual. Canāt get any better than Robās. Do yourself a favor and find out what...
