We rented a golf cart for two days and the young lady that helped me with that was truly, genuinely pleasant and always wore a smile. Because of her, I’m leaving three stars. Unfortunately, my wife, sister-in-law, nephews and sons had a very different experience with other associates. The boys wanted knives as souvenirs. Apparently, it is an inconvenience to some of the staff to have to identify, locate and deliver the merchandise. The younger lady with longer hair rolled her eyes numerous times, was very curt and rude to my sister-in-law throughout the process. After our dinner at Dockside, the boys decided they each wanted a second knife and so my sister-in-law took them back by and AGAIN, she and the boys were treated very rudely. One of the knives picked wasn’t functioning properly, so my nephew opted to exchange while there. The cashier didn’t appreciate it and a lengthy discussion among the staff ensued. We spent, almost, $500 in three days here. You would think that would warrant gratitude and stellar service. Apparently, tourists are a bother to many of the Dauphin Island business owners because whether it is a restaurant or a shop, your money is not sought after and your experience is not considered. We chose to come to Dauphin Island over our previous spot for the last two years and I hate to say that we, most likely, will not be returning. I purchased just over $100 in souveniors. One $22 dollar shirt did not fit my son so I took it back (within an hour of purchase) to exchange it for something different since they did not have the same shirt in a size he needed.
I was very disappointed that the manager came out and stated I had to exchange it for something the exact same price or higher.
Now I understand that often times souvenior shops do not offer refunds. However, I checked my receipt and I checked around the check out area for signs stating the refund policy. They do not have any policy posted.
I nicely traded the shirt I originally purchased for other products (and spent $2 more grrr), and I mentioned they needed to post their exchange only (even with the receipt) policy. I could have been crass and demanded a refund or the price difference for a different shirt, but I did not want to scare the little kids in line with their parents...and who wants to get worked up and stressed on vacation??
So I decided to share my experience by posting this review. This is sad for several reasons, the young ladies that work there are very friendly and helpful, I liked the shop and the items they offer, but because the manager (owners?) was stingy they get a poor rating, I will not return, and I will suggest to my family/friends to purchase souveniors elsewhere.
If tourist are treated well then they will return and spread the word to others.

Read moreThis place has got the souvenir shirts plenty of them,but the isles are narrow not enough to move around the service is not great I just wanted to get my 3 kids a shirt to remember dauphin island by,there was a woman just standing there hovering over me and my kids while we were trying to find a good size for them,I thought she was a customer just wanting to look where I was looking she was standing there over us while I was kneeled to ground looking on those bottom shelves it was awkward and uncomfortable she was wanting us to move out of the way so could fold the shirts back,but she could have asked if we needed help instead of the hovering.Give the customers the space to look in your store since you want the money spent...
