Dauphin Island Welcome Center — Attraction in Dauphin Island

The community center occupies the islands old school building. There is a large room that highlights the history of the island and the numerous events that have occurred since the arrival of early Europeans to present. There is a gift shop and a library, which is great for travelers. No membership, registration. Just the honor system. Large selection of books and even some dvds. For a first-time visit, this was a great start to get acquainted. They even offer free coffee. Volunteers were very helpful, pleasant, and willing to answers any questions we had...

Very interesting museum about the island. The staff there were extremely nice and helpful. Definitely worth a stop in. If they read these reviews please keep the island as it is. It's not a commercial nightmare with cookie cutter restaurants and businesses. The island still has an older feel to it that is so much more comforting than places like Gulf Shores or almost any...

I stopped in as I explored the island as it was my first visit. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They got all my questions answered and even called the bike company for me and within 10 minutes I had a bike rented to explore the island on bike! I peeked in the museum and little gift shop there and would definitely stop in again on a future visit to explore...
