Dauphin Island Town Hall — Local services in Dauphin Island

Missed the sign where you have to pay to park & came back after a few hours with a boot on my tire. Apparently this is common practice in Dauphin Island to put a boot on your tire if you don’t pay a $10 parking fee. They should really just use regular parking tickets. Using the boot seemed petty, over the top, and like they are on some major power trip. Also the parking enforcement person would not open my tire boot after I paid the fine because I was being disrespectful and she almost called cops to come in. I felt threatened & like I was about to be taken to jail for being frustrated and asking questions about the tire boot even after I paid the fee. DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO DAUPHIN ISLAND. I would like to say first and foremost, Dauphin Island is a beautiful place and I enjoy my time everytime I visit. But the unjust and racial treatment that I received from the Town Hall parking patrol is just ridiculous. While fishing not only was I harassed but was falsely accused of not buying a parking pass. While trying to leave I was also questioned of why I wasn’t thankful of her presence. There were four other cars and she singled me out being the only African American. We visited Dauphin Island and I have to say it has been one of my favorite places in the area. Such a lovely and quaint little Island with wonderful homes and a walkable path along the main road.

We walk from our parking spot to the beach which had such a bright and fine sand!
