Fun for the whole family... Well, almost. My husband and I brought our 5 kids, ages 12, 8, 7, 6, and 17 months here for some early evening mini golf while in the area on vacation. Typical tourist thing to do, I know. 😜 The older 4 kids had a blast. Dad kicked all our butts, as usual. But mom gave him a run for his money this time around (something he wasn't expecting). The baby was miserable, as he just wanted to chase everyone's colorful golf balls but we wouldn't let him. The staff was friendly. They gave the baby a plastic putter to play with to keep him occupied. However, by the time the first person's turn was up at the first hole, he'd figured out what it was for and was trying to play for everyone. :) The course itself was well maintained. The staff gave all the kids little promotional flags and paper pirate hats at the end of our game. The bathrooms (men and women's) were not very clean, and there were no changing tables. Soap was put in the women's - luckily I keep disinfecting wipes in my bag, but how many other people used that restroom without any soap available? Ew. Yes, I notified an attendant. No, there still wasn't any soap when one of my daughters used the restroom 20 minutes later. Game was a bit pricey, but petty much what you'd expect at a tourist trap in a town that was built upon Nascar, Bike Week, and...
Read moreWe were gamed... with an afternoon to play, the decision was made to mini-golf. As we drove over the bridge, we could see the clouds lollowing our car. Yes, right on cue after we paid for our round the rain came. But hey, we are from the North hardy stock of folks .. we did wait it out, and the Masters was on. Me, I'm older. I just want to hit the ball and get it in without embarrassing myself. My 30 something family wanted to win...let the games begin. Thru the laughter, grunts and groans, a victor was "crowned" he chose where to have dinner...and carry the title of mini golf champ..
The course is fun, just difficult enough to keep the parent age players happy and not discourage the young players. Well maintained We played with a slight drizzy... not bad, but I can't imagine what it would be in the hot sun, not a lot of shade. So I'm guessing they are busy mid afternoon and evenings to escape the heat. They do sell a few refreshments.. Clean...
Read moreYour classic mini golf adventure tucked into a relatively small space with a matching price tag! The holes were diverse, the surroundings were very clean, and the staff was VERY accommodating, considering they close at 10:30 and we didn’t get out until 11:15 or so. My only suggestion for you (or Pirate’s Island itself) would be to check the line before you go in- there doesn’t seem to be a limit on how many people can be in a group. There were three groups of about 6-10 in front of us and took f o r e v e r. We actually skipped the last two holes in order to save some time. This isn’t necessarily at the fault of PC, but it DID impact our experience and shiver me timbers with annoyance. All in all we had a great time! (Of course I won, so obviously I...
