PLEASE watch out, this place is predatory. When you move our they will still try and charge you rent even if you did not occupy the unit and it was the day the lease ended. It's unfortunate now legal action has to be taken, it's really not about the extra 270 dollars, it's just the principle of it. I'm beside myself reading this final statement even though my last month had been paid in full. I paid for the clean move and it just kept going up.
PSA: I can't even stress enough how I made the worst mistake moving in here! Subpar renovation, absolutely the rudest office staff ever. They were only nice to me before I signed the lease and no matter how nice I was I get the worst attitude and it's so disheartening.
Upon the conclusion of my 10 month lease, I just got charged 120 dollar with no explanation, the email simply stated balance due with no reason, just asking me for more money. Also no reason listed in smarthub either. Community package is a joke, 120 for what? you get a smart plug that doesn't really work with the app, and you can control your AC (only plus) and battery powered lock(which is trash and has jammed every single day for 10 months) trash guy rips your bags even if there double bagged and makes a mess every day which I have to clean up so I leave a broom out front, then he takes pictures of the front door too which makes me feel unsafe as a single woman living here.
If it were not for the poor treatment from office staff, 8 months of nonstop flying bugs and ants, and mold problem that has been affecting my health, or my water bill 112 a month for one person, electricity bill at 160 dollars a month for poor insulation, I may have had a decent experience. I see all these people who are either just moving in leaving good reviews and it doesn't even matter that I'm leaving a poor review, im sure there has been plenty of people who were asked to leave good ones in lue of my one particularly bad one.. you can really tell the ones who actually live here compared to the ones made to cover the bad ones... sorry but this has been atrocious and I wish I would have looked around more before jumping into the first available place with a decent price (or so I thought)
Don't have an emergency and expect the office to care about anything once they get you to sign the lease. The audacity of Stacey to just not give a damn if you're locked out! To tell me that's not a maintenance issue is insane. What if there was a child inside instead of an animal? I appreciate maintenance being swift but the insufferable people in the office. It's insane that people like that work with the public for real. Don't move in here unless you want to live with flies the entire time too! And not a normal amount of flies, like 30 or 40 inside at all times. In your food, in your fridge, and in every single room in the apartment. A face full of them every time you step out your door. I have been BEGGING for 7 months for a solution to this problem, I spend so much of my own money to try and fix it, fans blowing all the time to blow them out of my face. along with paying nearly 1600 a month for less than 500 Sq ft. It is SOUL CRUSHING to be told 'they weren't here before you moved in' like the place was empty and I was told by 3 separate employees how bad they were in their apartments and that we will have to do something different to fix the problem. Well, that never happens and no matter how many times you request maintenance they will make it completed even tho the problem hasn't been solved. Literal psychological torture I can't even sit on my couch and relax without the INFESTATION swarming me. I can't even keep food here. I have traps everywhere and keep my apartment VERY clean. I'm at my wit's end, sitting on my porch to get away from them since its the only place where there aren't 30 flies at all times. and it's not even summer yet, imagine. Under Florida law, a landlord or property manager for an apartment or a multi-unit dwelling structure is responsible for dealing with Pests! And that includes...
Read moreI have been living here for 6 weeks and maintenance issues with my apartment are still making it impossible to move in. One of those problems is the washer has been broken since move-in (leaves clothes soaked after washing); however, the only way to bring a new washer into the laundry room is to bring it through the small hallway and the master bedroom, which means moving nearly every piece of furniture we have been able to put in place.
Since moving in, we have had emergency water shut-offs multiple times.
I pay extra for the trash valet as there is only 1 dumpster for the complex, yet my trash is still missed the majority of the time. I actually had to walk my trash to the trash valet person one afternoon because I saw him walk past my apartment without taking my trash bag.
When I call during business hours, I have only had a human being pick up the phone 1 time. Although I have received callbacks a few times, almost everything is done through "smarthub" which has consistently led to miscommunications about maintenance issues.
This apartment complex also doesn't have the apartment buildings listed on maps, so we have had misdelivered packages, food deliveries, etc. Other mail issue is the previous 3 renters still have mail delivered to our address and the only way we could change this is paying money on the usps app to state that they do not live here anymore
Maintenance issues since move-in: Exhaust fans in both bathrooms had to be cleaned immediately after move-in No handles on any drawers in the kitchen or bathrooms Towel rod was not connected to the wall in the front bathroom Large flooding in both bathrooms upon move in. One of these issues was from the AC in the ceiling. We were told the AC cover in the front bathroom would be replaced, but it was not and that maintenance request was closed without being contacted All sinks have consistent leaking issues (have not been able to unpack any bathroom items because of this) Kitchen sink had consistent leaking issues which were resolved when the garbage disposal was reinstalled (the correct way this time) Laundry room had a broken lightbulb in the threads (could not even replace the lightbulb because of the way it was broken) Glass from said broken lightbulb was in the washer, which we had to pick out piece by piece Washer leaves clothes soaked after washing. We were told that it was not fixable and that we would get a new washer put in. However, that means that maintenance would have to move the new washer through the narrow hallway and the master bedroom (this means moving nearly every piece of furniture that we have been able to move in and set up) Washer was not set up upon move-in, as in it did not have power. Once it did have power, the heat dry setting is broken so we still have to manually dry every dish after running a cycle Our laundry room also gets unusually hot when using the dryer but not sure if that's normal or not Along with other, cosmetic issues, such as broken baseboards, wood shavings coming off of bottom of doors, etc.
Update: Previous 1 star review (written above) was posted in September. It is now November and it took more phone calls and maintenance requests, but the new maintenance manager seems to be on top of fixing every issue. They have been quick with responding to requests and trying to fix things. The pool and small gym have been perfect for residents. Communication about the new trash valet company has been better and our trash is being taken much more consistently since talking with management. My last several interactions with both maintenance and management have been friendly...
Read moreI've never left a Google review before, but it's necessary - Moved here in September '23. After seeing pictures of the "newly renovated" units, I opted to spend more than I wanted to in order to live at the Anatole rather than cheaper surrounding apartments.
Renovation - Many shortcuts were taken during this renovation. I expect a "landlord special" of painting over light switches, etc but this took it to a whole new level. The entire shower was painted and started chipping away within my first week. It's disgusting and still peeling. All of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets appear new, but it's only the doors. The actual cabinets are the original cabinets from the 70s with countless layers of paint on them. Paint has been falling and sticking to my dished for months. The floors have newer hardwood, but none of them are level. There's no light or fan in the living room and the shower head is the shortest shower head I've ever seen in my life. I'm only 5'7" and have to duck, my 6'5" boyfriend can't lift his arms in the shower without scraping his elbows on the popcorn ceiling. There is very little counterspace in the kitchen. My microwave takes up the entire corner so it's impossible to cook more than one thing at once. I will say that in general, the appliances work as they should and I love the large kitchen sink.
Financial - The utilities here are outrageous! On top of $1330 a month for rent, I'm charged $106 for a "community package" including trash service, pest control (that they have never done inside my apartment since I moved in), and the fact that I have a washer and dryer. There are no nice amenities, at most 2 people can be in the gym at once and the pool has been closed many, many times. Water is on a master meter, not at all based on your usage. I have paid an average of $86 a month on water, reaching up to $101 for a one bedroom unit. Most nearby complexes pay $20-40. It's outrageous. I've reported this to the office and to Corporate so something can be done about the obvious leak issue, but I have gotten no response.
AC - The AC unit is above the 7 foot ceilings in the bathroom. My first week it leaked and flooded the bathroom. Since then, I've had countless occurrences of the ceiling leaking and the AC not working. I reported mold in the AC system for months before it was addressed. I have now been regularly reporting for 3 months that the AC system does not work during the day. It is usually at 80-84 degrees inside the apartment, while set to 70. My electric bill for my 677 sq ft unit was over $170 last month, so I'm paying for AC that doesn't even work. Maintenance told me they don't know how to fix it and to close all of the blinds during the day, don't turn on the stove or oven and hang a tarp over the sliding door to prevent sunlight. For the $17k I have spent over the last 11 months here, I should be able to look outside while cooking dinner and still have AC! Maintenance is also known for closing requests before they even look at your issue. I have reported on many occasions that there is light (and likely bugs) coming from the cracks in the doors and windows - also been ignored. They will not listen to you!
I would expect this type of service if I was living in an old community paying less than $900 total. But at $1500 + electric and Wi-Fi, it's ridiculous! Save your money and move into a larger, nicer, brand new unit at one of the new complexes. It will work out to be cheaper when you factor in utilities and you'll be so, so much happier!! I can't wait to leave...
