talk about awkward from the moment we walked in, my husband , son and I decided to have a nice dinner after walking the volusia mall. we were dressed in shorts , tshirts and sneakers , as soon as we were acknowledged by the three hosts at the door they immediately made us feel uncomfortable by staring us down. My son is 2 years old and like any child very vocal and active. I asked for a table for two & a high chair . the gentlemen that was at the door felt the need to reiterate my statement & say so table for 3. he then just stared at us for a full minute before he decided to ask if we have reservations, we did not so we answered with No. he then stated to say that it will be a 20 minute wait. my husband and I looked around and saw the restaurant was clearly empty and had available seating. I felt so uncomfortable I just walked out, my husband walked out behind me after saying we will think about it.
I felt so uncomfortable and discouraged to sit down and eat, the hosts made us feel as if we weren’t good enough to eat at this restaurant . My husband and I are in our mid 30’s with tattoos all down our arms & it felt as if we were being discriminated against , in addition to being dressed causal in shorts & t shirt‘s that should be no reason to pass judgement and discourage customers away from ur business, you are next to a mall and should welcome all different types demographics! As business owners we recommend u change your approach at the door! Not only will I never give my money to this restaurant but I will also be discouraging family and friends from going to any bonefish grill. No one should ever feel that discomfort walking into a...
Read moreI have been a patron of Bonefish Grill for many years. Many good meals at half a dozen different locations. If there ever was a problem, a manager handled it quickly and efficiently. I can only think of one previous occasion where there was an issue. That's why I'm so surprised about our latest visit. In a restaurant not anywhere near capacity, we still waited several minutes to be seated. As we are directed to our booth we notice the fabric on the seats is so badly worn that there are holes in it. We order beverages that are delivered to the table in a reasonable amount of time. Bread comes next. Orders placed for two fish dishes with sides. Meals come to the table in what seems like a very long time but that seems to be the norm these days. The waitress asks if we need anything and I respond with, "Yes, we need napkins, forks, and knives". Another server goes to get the silverware and is walking towards the table with them when she suddenly turns and heads to the kitchen. I would estimate we sat with our food for 3 to 4 minutes before we were even able to eat. In all honesty, my entree was quite good. The other person in my party ordered Mahi Mahi. It was hard and dry. I've always considered Bonefish Grill to be one of our finer restaurants. I'm not sure what has happened at this location but they are giving a ban name to this chain. I would have to visit another location to know if it is company wide or just poor management in Daytona Beach. I'm not inclined to do that anytime soon. I gave three stars in this review. The third star is a gift because my meal was good. But it was a...
Read moreI chose this restaurant because my team wanted to eat here. I even called ahead about our party size, and although the table was ready upon arrival, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all.
Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly. Despite having a large group, we were never offered bread—something other nearby tables received without issue. Waiter was short out the gate. I didn’t want the energy at our table. I brought this to the hostess’s attention and asked for a different server, as our original one had already shown a lack of attentiveness.
Rather than discreetly handling the switch, the manager came over and unprofessionally asked, “Why do you want to change the waiter?” I stepped aside and explained that I’d rather not get into specifics, but would appreciate another server. His attitude made it clear why our original server was dismissive—she’s being led by someone equally unprofessional.
The manager never checked back in, which any attentive leader would have done. Instead of focusing on retaining business, he took the request personally.
The second server was kind, helpful, and far better, although we still never received bread. Oddly enough, the original server was the one who brought my meal out—perhaps to make a point.
To make matters worse, the napkins were dirty, and some silverware wasn’t clean. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The restaurant has potential, but better leadership and basic hospitality are seriously lacking. I won’t...
