Harbor Freight — Local services in Decatur

We really like the Athens store. It's clean and well-lit and not in a questionable part of town as many HFT stores tend to be. But, I have noticed that this particular store seems to run out of stock on promotional items consistently and unusually fast. Can't tell if this is an issue with corporate stocking levels (they don't send this store enough of these items) or if there's a cartel of locals who swoop in and grab these items to resell... Either way, I don't go to the Athens store if I'm specifically going for a particular sale item or promotion because it almost always ends up being a wasted trip. Hopefully the store will get a handle on this issue sooner rather than later. Other than that, it's a great store with friendly, helpful employees who actually make themselves available to answer questions or help locate items.

Overall, HFT has been a blessing and a curse for me. The tools are very affordable and they generally hold up to heavy use. I worked as a heavy truck mechanic for several years and used quite a few of the original Pittsburgh branded HFT tools, including impact sockets. I broke maybe two or three of the cheaper pry bars but everything else held up to daily use in a big shop. Form, fit and finish have improved since that time, so even though I pretty much own every tool I need, I always manage to find something to buy - even if it's consumables like sandpaper or reciprocating saw blades, tarps, etc. I do not, however, buy the batteries. Those just don't last and are not worth...

Harbor Freight Tools is a great place to buy tools but some of the tools that you buy might not work with the parts that they send with them I have a jackhammer that I purchased and the bits that came with it does not fit in it I purchased a few years ago I'm only getting to use it now I called and told the company about it he asked me if I had the collard bits and I said no I have the bits that came with it he said he was sorry but there wasn't anything that they could do about it I watch the videos on YouTube they have the same problem with the bits falling out I guess that's just something that we expect here in this country these days since we get everything from overseas now oh well I've got a machine that don't work and the bits doesn't work in it I guess I could take it back to China but then I can't go there now either so I guess it's just like our leaders of our country we just stuck with them thanks...

This is a very nice Harbor Freight store. It's neat and well organized. It seems bigger than some I've been in, definitely bigger than the Huntsville AL store. I've been shopping at HF for years and I'm running out of things to buy. This store seemed to have quite a few items not available at smaller stores. I think every single employee I walked by greeted me and asked if I was finding everything OK. I overheard a manager jumping on the stocking team over their radios about keeping items neat when stocking and not dumping things in bins. Her dedication showes in how nicely presented everything is in the store. Bathroom was easily accessible, clean, and well...
