I need and want to commend David Stensrud with Gunderson's on 57th Street in Sioux Falls for his honesty and integrity. We are relatively new to Sioux Falls and we have never utilized a jewlery store in Sioux Falls. I have an expensive watch that I received as a gift over 20 years ago and it has never needed to be serviced. However, earlier this year it just would not continue to run for any length of time. I took it into Gunderson's and spoke with David. He looked at the watch and complimented me on the watches condition after over 20 years of use. He worked with the stem a bit and then asked me how often I wound the watch? I said, never in 20 years, It is motion activated and I just shake a few times and it runs. He shared that my watch probably did not need to be serviced, but only wound--I said wound? I had never ever in 20 years been told it needed to be wound, I just needed to shake it and it would be motion activated and that worked for me for 20 years. He shared if we service the watch it may take up to a year because of the back log. He said, let's wind it and you wear it a few days and let's see if it works. After two days it is still running accurately. I then googled whether or not this watch needed to be wound and sure enough, yes, it is motion activated or driven, but it also needs to be wound. David could very easily have taken the watch in for service by Gunderson and charged me (I had taken the watch into a certified repair shop in Arizona about one month ago and they said they had a back log of six months, but they were ready to take my watch in for repair and the cost would have been a minimum of $650). I cannot believe the audacity of some of the employees working at this business, and how they're even still employed here?! I get mistakes happen, but messing up on the order of a $1,500+ men's wedding band 3 times is a little absurd. Okay, sure, let's give them the benefit of the doubt that it was the company's fault they ordered through. After I thought everything was reconciled (we started working with a new saleswoman), we needed an appraisal sent over for my band (also purchased there). Abby, the gal we had been working with, didn't even remember us? It's comical at this point! We were just in a month and a half ago, for the last time we had thought to pick up my husbands band. (After being in 3+ times over the prior 2 months trying to straighten out everything!!) After over 5 hours and no email, we called back to check in and another lady named Megan answered. She told us Abby has been with a customer to which we responded, "For 5+ hours??". My husband finally said that they have been terrible to work with. Megan replied "Cool" and hung up! I walked into Gunderson’s to look at a watch I had planned to order online.

I ended up buying the watch from them instead of online. I’m glad I did, because what could have been a one-time transaction turned into an ongoing relationship with what feels like a true hometown jeweler.

Since that first visit, Gunderson’s has sized several watches for me, helped me pick out meaningful gifts, and sent thoughtful loyalty and thank-you cards for special occasions.

I also didn’t plan on getting engaged, but when I did, I knew there were only two places I needed to go in Sioux Falls: R Wine Bar for the occasion, and Gunderson’s for the ring. Both for the same reason: people, professionalism, and truly personalized service.

Michelle worked with me on the engagement ring, finding ways to help. I had never looked at a diamond and had no idea about the options. We worked out a way where I could choose the ring and she could select the diamond later. Michelle even had the forethought to provide me with a smaller, more strategic box to pop the question, which turned out to be a lifesaver.
