I was asked by the person in charge to change my original review but it isn't true to how the experience was when I was there so I want to go ahead and rewrite it. When my family stayed there we were harassed by one of the staff members daily. She loved to instigate issues between families and had the nerve to tell one of the other residents there at the time that she didn't like me when she thought I was out of earshot. I confronted her and she continued to tell me that she didn't like me, after gossiping with the resident. That was the first or last time that this happened and management did nothing about it. Management never made the residents follow the rules. Mothers would let their kids run free throughout the house and dance on the tables, which was very against the rules. The staff played favorites and would watch certain peoples kids which was also against the rules. We were supposed to receive a gift basket with basic essentials at the end of our success departure and were denied these because they said our room wasn't clean enough when just a few days before that another resident left her room completely trashed and was given her baskets and extra stuff. Staff is very unprofessional. I literally tried to only be in the building when absolutely necessary because of the levels of chaos and discord caused by the lack of rule enforcement. I had stayed there from april until june. The time before was much better when management actually followed through on making sure the residents didn't break the rules. I am mad that they asked me to silence myself instead of voicing my opinion because it might hurt their chances at grants or whatever. Maybe if they weren't picking favorites and stealing from me I would feel differently. I was promised a mattress from an outside source. One of the staff members picked up the mattress before I could and refused to give it to me when we left. Sandy. Thanks. And Betty with her love of starting drama. Beware and only go there if you have no...
Read moreOur family just exited Family Promise and being in this situation was so humiliating for me. Tonia (the front line worker that’s in the trenches with you) did an absolutely amazing job. She’s a freaking angel. She comforts you emotionally and pragmatically walks through each issue and brings hope and pulls together resources for you. Ben is more of an administration type person so he’s a great go to for how everything works at a higher-level if you’re interested. Also, this is a house that has rooms for each family so it’s not like a shelter in terms of what you would be imagining. The only draw back, is there are rules and curfew that you have to follow so the house doesn’t become insane. For dinner try to have some emotional energy left over to interact with the volunteers and other family members. We ended up having an amazing time and made a lot of friends and I cannot thank this organization enough. Paul (a regular volunteer) gave us a Christmas tree - he’s a quiet and humble man that keeps the world turning. We loved our experience, the team of people in this organization do an absolutely amazing job. Hopefully, when we get back on our feet we can push money their way so they can keep expanding and doing what they’re doing. Thank you everyone involved for making an incredibly scary and vulnerable situation an amazing experience! Donate to this organization! They are changing people’s...
