At Old Dog Alehouse, everything is made from scratch, and that shows in the excellent and original food on the menu. We were there for a Valentine's Day special dinner for two and had memorable and delicious meal experience. The service was prompt and courteous, and the large craft beer selections quickly presented, with our choices of one from each category--appetizer, entree, and dessert (see menu photo). We chose the 12 oz. NY strip steaks with blue cheese topping, and they were prepared just right and so good! Appetizers of brisket wontons (3) were something new and something I'll look forward to finding again. The steaks came with another new item: bacon wrapped asparagus-- so good, I could eat a plate of just them, and asap, please! The entree also included house made noodles with Gorgonzola, also delicious. To go with all this goodness, we had a good red wine and a great craft beer: North High Cover Crop Golden Ale. Dessert was our choice of their famous in house cupcakes; I got the amazing Tuxedo cheesecake. Overall, a wonderful dinner at a reasonable price for sure--we'll be back!

I had been wanting to try this place for quite a while, but Tuesdays for lunch used to not be on their schedule. This past week I saw the OPEN flag unfurled and thought it must be my lucky Tuesday. It really wasn’t all that lucky. I do have some food allergies that include sesame, so quite a few menu items were immediately off the list. I settled on the fish po boy. I am posting a picture, and this particular sandwich needs a caption as you can’t even begin to see fish peeking out of that giant bun. The taste was fine, but I prefer the contents of my sandwich to be the star. And it was a birthday lunch, so we ended with cupcakes. And they were far from fresh. But our server had the forethought to zap them in the microwave. It turned my icing into a melting mess as soon as I applied my fork, and the Boston cream filling to cook into the cake. Recap - my anticipated/yet surprise first visit was “eh” punctuated by disappointment. For real, the cupcakes had passed their time for serving, even the microwave knew it.

Nice little pub with good options. Scheduled reservations and no wait. Got dill chips, brussels, and salmon. Fellow diner got fish and chips. The dill chips is pretty good, albeit very heavy. It's lays-style chips (I don't think they're seratoga or house made) dusted with dill seasoning which is good. The dip is, I believe, a cream cheese- based dip with big pieces of onion. Love the onion, but there were some pretty massive chonks of cream cheese to chop up. The brussels were interesting, also very rich and sweet. I did get a miso-heavy bite and I really liked it. The salmon was cooked well, and its served atop a bed of incredibly heavy, creamy risotto. The sauce is great! We did order too mich food - portion sizes are good here. But I will say they make food you can anchor a boat with! I would say this is a solid local pub with reliable food that is just adventurous enough to still be traditional. Wasnt bad - recommend for large portions, heavy dishes and house-made brews. Oh, and love of dogs.

Recently stopped in for dinner. The hostess seemed annoyed we were asking for a table and was not very friendly. She did give us an accurate estimate for a wait, and got us to our table within the time she proposed.

Our server was awesome, very attentive to our table, and made sure our entree's and appetizer were spaced out perfectly. Could not ask for a better server.

We got the Korean steak nachos for an appetizer. They were relatively good. The steak was slightly on the dry side but with good flavor, the corn, beans, and cheese were just about the perfect proportions to make sure you got a little with every bite. The chimichurri drizzle pulled the dish together for an overall good appetizer. 4 out of 5.

I go the French dip sandwich with mac and cheese as my side. The French dip sandwich was sub par. The cuts of steak were fatty, thick cut and flavorless. The bourbon mushrooms were fantastic and saved my sandwich from being discarded. The sauteed onions were perfect, however I counted 4 thin strips in my entire sandwich, making me want for more. The sandwich was supposed to come with white cheddar cheese, to which it had none on it at all. The au jus was flavorless, with a hint of Worcestershire sauce in it. Overall I would give the French dip a 1 out of 5, very disappointing

My side of mac and cheese was flawless. The cheese sauce they prepared was very flavorful and all throughout the noodles. I absolutely could not ask for more 5 out of 5.

I sampled two beers with my meal, the Dark horse, and Boat Harbor, they were excellent as well. The credit to my two drinks comes mostly from the menu that very accurately described the taste and finish of the beers. 5 out of 5 for the beer menu.

Overall the ambience of the restaurant was warm and welcoming and I would try it again to see if a different meal would be the right fit for me. However, given the cold greeting we received at the hostess stand and the absolute flop on the French dip sandwich, I must maintain a 3 out of 5 rating for the restaurant / ale house for the...

MORTIFYING EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! I used to recommend this restaurant up until this weekend when I tried to dine here and was refused service! My mom came into town and we wanted to eat outside given the night was so pretty. So I suggested Old Dog. We arrive to the restaurant and are told there's a table ready, minutes later we are a told by another waitress no tables are ready and it was "a mistake" and to wait a long time or just not eat there... we ask how long the wait is and she says 15 to 20. When we agree to wait she rudely comments "well people are drinking and hanging out so could be longer sure you still want to wait and eat here" we agree to wait. we then see people come in after us who are seated out on the patio immediately in front of us in a way that it was almost done to purposely show us we weren't being served. It's quite evident we aren't wanted. Apparently we were refused service because of a waitress having ill feelings towards us... someone I've never spoken to in my life and someone that's been there in the past when I've eaten there and it's never been an issue until NOW. we were also screamed at as we were walking away from the restaurant.... "Bye Sweetheart" In Front of all the patrons. We will NEVER dine here again. And we are suggesting others do not support this behavior either. Many others are spreading the word in support of what has happened. It was awful and I hope no one ever has to feel like they are so unwelcome by an establishment.

Now it has us wondering the times we did go if maybe they spit in our food? Given how much they disliked us. Management has yet to do anything about this either.

AVOID THIS PLACE. AND AVOID JESS...

If you have several hours to kill, this might be the place. Unfortunately, we didn't. We thought we had plenty of time, but after an hour and fifteen minutes later we didn't have time to finish our meal. Not sure what happened. We were told they were inundated on the patio, but as we left, there were seats open. Inside, I'd say it was only about 1/3 to 1/2 full. There was plenty of help, as I counted at least a half dozen employees on our side of the establishment itself. And yet, we didn't order until after a half hour of being there, getting our order for appetizer wrong, and then ended up waiting almost 45 minutes before our sandwiches - yes sandwiches - arrived. There didn't seem to be one thing wrong. Our server was pleasant and apologetic. But there was just no reason we could see that with all the help and so few customers anything would take so long. Judging from other reviews, it looks like service is going to be something they have to improve upon. As we didn't have time to actually eat the food, I won't rate it since I"m sure it would have tasted better not having to heat...
