I have been going to the salon for 4 months now. I've always been happy with my nails. It's not the best salon I've been to but it's good enough and close to my house.
However, I called and made my routine appointment for Saturday morning on Friday. (I have been going there for 4 months now.) I showed up for my appointment and was told I didn't have one and that I never called. There was no apology and I was told to check my phone to make sure I called the correct number. (I have the number programmed in my phone.) The owner made me show her that I called the correct number. I didn't have time to argue and have conversation about it bc at this point I knew I was going to have to rearrange my morning. So I asked what time I should come back and left.
When I came back, they were 10 minutes late getting started and no acknowledgement for the inconvenience of having to come back bc they didn't write down my appointment. Once the girl started I simply asked if I should come in to make my appointments instead of call. (I realize accidents happen.) And the owner Kim, butted in and responded with "are you complaining again?" This was followed by, "I had a girl who didn't show up...you have acrylic and we don't do much acrylic...you always come in Saturday morning and that's inconvenient for me, you need to come in the afternoon...and I told you I was sorry."
First of all, she had never apologized and had only been defensive up to this point. And I didn't complain the first time, I wasn't complaining now. I was simply asking a question. Second, all of other responses she gave have nothing to do with the fact that she didn't write down my appointment. She had never mentioned a girl didn't show up until after I came back. And the girl doing my nails said when I came in the first time Kim did not know the girl wasn't coming in at that point. Third, what does me having acrylic nails have to do with anything? If you don't like doing them then don't offer the service. And lastly, if me coming in at 9am is suddenly inconvenient for you then you should tell me that before I make my appointment and plan my day around that appointment. Also, I had been coming in every two weeks since November.
Obviously I am not returning to this salon. When I originally read some of the negative reviews, I assumed the people were being over dramatic or they were the crazy complaining customer we've all seen at one time or another. Kim, Peter and the rest of the staff had been nice up to this point. However, I was extremely nice and considerate bc I understand that mistakes happen. The situation was handled so poorly by the owner Kim, that I am completely appalled. I've been getting my nails done for 11 years. This was the worst customer service I've...
Read moreI am honestly still kind of stunned by what just happened. This was head and shoulders better than any pedicure experience Iâve ever had. I barely know where to start.
Right off the bat, they had me sit down and soak my feet while I chose my gel polish instead of standing awkwardly at the front, feeling rushed and keeping everybody waiting. The nail tech at the chair next to me kept a close eye out while my tech gathered her equipment. While also caring for her own customer, she noticed my slight movements and asked twice if my water was ok or too hot.
Communication with my own nail tech was so good. Before she got started, I said I needed all the help she could give with my callouses and my cuticles, and for the first time since I moved to Delray, someone actually listened. She absolutely went to town on me, and busted out a Dremel, which no one has ever used of my toes before. After sanding me down, she whipped out a giant cheese grater and made confetti of the dead skin off my feet, THEN she went back with a pumice after that. 10/10.
I commented on the paint mixer, which Iâve never seen in a nail salon before, and she said mixing the gel polishes properly helps the pedicure last longer. I was so impressed.
She asked me to approve her nail shaping before she did the polish, and made the tweaks I requested.
She asked if I was a dancer, and when I said I run, she asked if my shoes fit correctly to avoid callouses! This was such a smart question - as it happens, I am actually very overdue for new running shoes! She recommended using tape to avoid callous recurrence if my shoes are bugging me. I like to think of myself as a problem solver, but this was stuff I had never considered - she was totally blowing my mind!
At the end of the pedicure, she did something Iâve only seen on TikTok and used finishing oil to make everything nice and glowy.
The gel pedicure costs exactly the same as other salons in the area, ($50 at the time of this review) There was no funny business or confusion about pricing or add ons. The young man who cashed me out even showed me his calculator when I asked to add a tip to my card, and double checked that I knew about the small card processing fee.
Did I mention my nail tech greeted her customers like good friends, and made hilarious banter with everyone around her?
Yeah Iâve found...
Read moreUPDATE: I will not be returning to this establishment. My nails were done on 2/23 (Hannah did a wonderful job as usual) and I happened to crack a nail today (2/25). I called and spoke to Kim about coming in early Saturday morning or waiting until Wednesday and she said theyâre very busy âmaking moneyâ on Saturday as if I usually get my nails done FOR FREE or something. The snide comment wasnât necessary, just say youâre busy. I was willing to wait several days to get the nail fixed. Most of the time I pay $80-$90 for my nails and add an extra $20-30 tip for Hannah because she deserves it for her meticulous work and kindness. Kim asked if I could come in today at 1:45 (so I had to get there within 25 minutes). Although I was taken aback by Kimâs RUDE comment, I didnât say anything to her about it. I just said âok Iâll be thereâ.
Today, I walked in and no one said a word to me as if I was wrong for coming in for a less than 10 minute nail repair. Usually, youâre warmly greeted and told to wash your hands when you walk in but I guess today wasnât my day to receive the same kindness đ. Mind you when I got my nails done on 2/23, I patiently waited 40+ minutes after my nail removal because Hannah had a wax to do during my appointment. No one said a word to me about the wait and I didnât say anything either because I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND that things like that happen sometimes. But considering that occurrence and how the ill-mannered Kim interacted with me today, I will not be returning. Looking at the negative reviews, most of them are about Kim and her nasty attitude. You donât treat customers like that.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: I love Kim Nails & Spa! Before I started coming here, I hadnât gotten acrylics or any kind of âfakeâ nails in over a decade. Hannah always does an incredible job on my nails. She is patient and kind. Every time I show her a nail design, she executes it so well that it ends up looking better than what I showed her! Also, my real nails are still very strong which is something I was worried about at first. Itâs very clean inside and everyone is so friendly! You can tell they enjoy what they do and their beautiful work...
