A coworker of mine was getting moved around to a different department in my job, so I wanted to get her something special last minute to celebrate her transfer. I called up a three other places and they gave me outrageous prices and couldn't fill the order in time (understandable). So I about gave up, but when ahead and tried calling Cakes for Karen's. The person on the phone was very prompt and polite and was able to answer my questions immediately without thought. They gave me a good quote ($39) and was even able to make it for me with basically less than the 24-hour notice. We shared this cake with all my coworkers and staff (about 25 people) and every single person said it was both delicious and beautiful. I adored the flower arrangement on top. Also, when I picked it up, the lady at the counter (I didn't catch her name, but she was a bit older) was SO sweet and personable, which made the purchase all the more pleasant. I placed an order for a cake one month before the event. Two weeks later we asked if we could send photos of what we wanted and were given an email address where we could attach photos. We made numerous attempts after their reply that they received the order but failed to get a response. I physically took a hard copy photo to the location and the girl attached it to my already paid invoice. Today, the day of the occasion I received a totally different cake. When I called to let them know I was told “I don’t know what to do you’re not going to be happy!” This is a business … I am the customer who paid for the cake a MONTH in advance… and we sent photos of what we wanted 3 WEEKS ahead of time not last minute. Really disappointed- ordered a cake here for something fun for kids graduating high school and prepaid for the cake- told them my ideas for the theme of the cake and was promised by the lady on the phone they’d make it really fun and cute and even find a pic to print and put on the cake. They then charged me for all the extra decorating they said they were going to do and the pic to print and put on the cake- picked up the cake- they didn’t do any of what was promised. Just over charged me for a cake that looked like any old bakery like King Soopers could have done in 10 minutes and for half the price.
