Worst customer experience ever!!! I went to the store having no idea how to set up saltwater tank considering it will be used in our business. First day was the better experience of all. Gave me info I needed but seemed irritated I was asking. No biggie, so apparently they only have 1 person that can set up saltwater tank, at least that’s what was related to me. I left my contact info with the promise of being called back in the next couple of days with the he apparent knowledgeable employee. After a week went by I stopped to relate that we were interested in a tank 15 gallons larger than original request and informed them I was never contacted. They assured me I would be contacted in 2 days when employee was on staff. Never received a call 5 days later. I decided they must be busy and called again to inform. Expressed my concern about not be contacted. “It will happen tomorrow “ is what I was told. A week goes by of course nobody ever attempted to call. I once again call to try and figure why they do not want my business. Woman answers and obviously has never worked with human beings and does not know the meaning of sympathy. She told me I would have to wait 3 days until apparently the only person who could help would be on staff. I expressed this has not worked in the passed and is creating the worst experience with a business I have ever had. I asked if she could call. She told me know. These people could care less about helping/responding to a person who was eager to give them business. 2 weeks later I have heard nothing. Apparently owners, I assume are just as ignorant as the 3 other employees I have come into contact with. I wouldn’t rely on these people for any type of service, based on the fact they cannot pick up the phone to make a 2 min call to a perspective customer. Stay away from this place if your looking for descent service or even...
Read moreI wish I could say good things about this store because the ambience in there is beautiful, but I can't. First a bit of backstory: I set up my tank a couple weeks ago and am still trying to get the ammonia cycle started. I have been testing ammonia almost daily and have consistently been measuring ~.025 - 0.50ppm and no nitrites or nitrates. My tank has no fish, just some live plants. The other day I went into Fish Den to browse, get some advice, and buy some plants. This was and still is the only place I have bought plants from. I bought a couple stem plants and some frog bit. Two days later there were Bladder Snails in my tank. I have been picking them out by hand for days and have not made any noticeable dent in the population as they seem to be reproducing faster than I can pick them. So, I went back in just the other day to talk to the employees about the snail infestation I got from them as well as to get my water tested. The woman working there was rude and cold. Then she tried to tell me that my ammonia was reading at 1.5ppm... I don't know if she made a mistake or if she was lying for some reason, but my water is not at 1.5ppm. I left Fish Den and immediately went to About Fish in Westminster and they read my ammonia levels as 0.25 - 0.5ppm from the exact same jar of water, which further confirmed that About Fish got my ammonia levels wrong.
Tldr: About Fish has bladder snails! If you don't want snails in your tank forever I wouldn't reccommend buying plants there. They do have a large selection of fish but the woman I've interacted with every time I've gone is rude and she misinterpreted/lied about my...
Read moreI ventured over to Fish Den for some medication for my betta because I couldn't find remedies that were proper at the local chain pet stores. Let me preface this with the fact I have owned several aquariums, many communities with betta fish. Currently I have a betta in a 20 gallon tank with some community fish. He showed no signs of stress and actually was very happy playing with the platys I added. Well, the platys were new and brought ich with them.
So I go down there for something to treat it and some kid who is in his 20s starts spouting off that bettas live in puddles in the wild and that they belong in vases. He tried to sell me a cup that was less than 8oz to keep the betta in. I declined and chose to treat the betta in the cup I'd bought him in at Petco, since it was bigger and easier to dose.
This infuriated me because he loves being in a community tank, and has been healthy until this. The man offered no good advice and just sold me the product. I decided to tour their fish section and was disgusted by what I say. There is a gourami the size of three dinner plates and probably six inches thick in a 55 gallon tank. It can't even turn around. This is not humane. Almost all of their tanks are overcrowded, full of algae, and just miserable looking. The tank showroom with the empty tanks is stacked to the ceiling. The merchandise isn't labeled with prices, the shelves are dirty and crowded...I will not be going back or recommending them. I got better advice at the...
